Meet the Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette Limited Edition

The stunning purple-coloured Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette watch follows along the faithful lines of the esteemed Excellence collection but sports a much more playful colour and is limited to a production run of between 100 & 150 pieces per year.

Louis Erard has been manufacturing watches since 1931 and has a broad range of styles and designs to choose from. Whether it be the company’s tongue-in-cheek Seconde/Seconde collaboration that has caught your eye in recent months or the brand’s recognisable regulator style watches, there is a design and a style to be found for every individual amongst Louis Erard’s eclectic and ever-growing catalogue of delights. The Louis Erard Excellence watch collection was launched as a celebratory mark to the company’s 80th anniversary and went from strength to strength with several collectable models added to its line in recent months. Amongst some of these popular wristwatches are models like the Louis Erard Excellence Guilloche Main II Limited Edition with a traditional métiers d’art hand guilloché dial and the Louis Erard Watch Petite Seconde Aventurine Limited Edition watch with a visually captivating dial that looks almost galaxy-inspired. Now it’s time to welcome another special model to the series. Another limited edition watch – this time produced in a limited series of between 100 & 150 pieces per year.

There are three new Louis Erard Excellence La Petite Seconde watches to join the range. The timepiece we’ll be looking at in a little more detail today is the Violette iteration, clad in dreamy deep purple hues. But first, a little look at what makes each Louis Erard watch so collectable…

Louis Erard has made the Jura and Le Noirmont its home, crafting masterful watches that truly mean something to those that choose to wear them. It makes perfect sense that the company’s location is synonymous with quality and a region that is respected throughout the world. Louis Erard believes that transparency is the key to its success as a leading watch manufacturer and that to come to the Jura is to be immersed in time and to understand the real restraint and refinement of each beautiful here. The level of attention to detail extends far beyond the dial of a Louis Erard watch and that is evident in each timepiece, including that of the new Excellence Petite Seconde Violette Limited Edition watch. The movement that sits inside the heart of each timepiece is believed by Louis Erard to be the soul of the watch, thus the brand is constantly searching for new and exciting ways to express time through its many different designs.

With a strong pop of colour, the new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette watch brings with its deep purple colours a new Excellence case design and an aesthetic that has been carefully reworked and refined. That said, it still features the popular fir tree hands that have become a hallmark of the Excellence way, along with the fir tree crown. The choice of colour for this new Petite Seconde watch, which joins a Midnight Blue colour and a Bleu Glacier colour, signifies the brand’s bold and daring spirit to stretch itself far beyond the means of conformity, creating something wholly unique and statement-making.

The new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette Limited Edition watch

The new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette watch will be produced in a limited run of just 100 & 150 pieces per year and hangs between two galaxies – one which focuses on the strict parallels of quality craftsmanship and superior horological execution and one that shows that the company is bound to no limits when it comes to playfulness and creativity. The case of the new purple watch from Louis Erard is crafted from stainless steel and is perfectly round in shape, with a fir tree crown at 3 o’clock and a top crafted from scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. The glass protects the shimmering purple nuances of the dial from scratching, denting, dust light, heat and moister damage and prevents any undesirable glare from affecting the wearer’s view when looking into the dial. The case of the watch is also 50-meter water resistant and measures a diameter of 39mm. It sits at a height on the wrist of 12.82mm and has been manufactured in three pieces. On the back of the case of this new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde watch, the movement is made visible through an exhibition window, also crafted from sapphire crystal glass.

The new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde watch boasts a matte purple dial with a satin finished zone that displays the hours in Arabic numerals. The small second sub-dial, the key feature of the model, is situated at 6 o’clock in a diamond cut zone. White transfers on this feature enhance legibility whilst the indexes on this feature are finished in a glossy silver. The Arabic numerals on the main dial, together with the fir tree hands are all rhodium-coated to enhance a luxurious feel across the entire dial.

Inside the case of the new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Violette Limited Edition watch is the self-winding Sellita SW261-1 calibre, equipped with a useful power reserve of 38 hours. It also performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and features 31 jewels. The élaboré grade movement has a special openworked oscillating weight adorned with a black lacquered Louis Erard symbol. The watch is fitted on a purple grained calf leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching and blue grained calf leather lining. It attaches to the wrist with a polished stainless steel pin buckle with functional catch spring bars for easily changing the strap to another alternative whenever desired.
