Most people are familiar with Casio. The brand is known for its quality watches, as well as for the first electronic calculator to be produced back in 1949. The name of the calculator was Casio 14-A. Kashio Todao established a company named Kashio Seisakujo back on 1946. The company’s first product was a ring-mounted cigarette holder, which became successful quickly. The company developed various types of calculators, including the first scientific calculator. In 1974, Casio started expanding its product line, thus manufacturing the brand’s first watches. Casio is the company that produced the first shock resistant and the first digital diary watch.
The Casio philosophy is “creativity and contribution”, a slogan that highlights the company’s aims to always create products that are both original and useful. The wide range of products available – including Casio watches, musical instruments, calculators, cameras, cash registers and projectors – are designed to assist people in their daily lives and keep society moving forward, with innovative functions that help to create new cultures.
Founded in Japan in 1946, the Casio company’s first product was the yubiwa pipe – a finger ring that held a cigarette. The profits from this successful invention were used to develop its first range of calculators, leading to the world’s first all-electric compact calculator in 1957, and more innovative products would soon follow.
Casio watches was one of the earliest manufacturers of quartz watches, and one of the first brands to create watches that could display the time in many different time zones. A number of industry firsts have been achieved by Casio watches, including the world’s first wristwatch to incorporate a digital camera, released in 2000. Casio watches were also some of the first to include temperature, atmospheric pressure, altitude and GPS displays.
Known for their innovation and wide variety, Casio watches are divided into various collections. The Edifice range is inspired by speed and intelligence, incorporating advanced technology with dynamic design; Casio Sheen watches are elegant, everyday watches for women; the Pro Trek collection is designed for those with a rugged lifestyle; while the wide range of classic Casio watches combine practicality and function with retro styling.
