History of Georg Jensen Watches
Georg Jensen is a Danish luxury brand with a heritage of unique design and craftsmanship. With a history that spans more than 100 years, the company’s timeless designs, including this stunning range of Georg Jensen watches, began with the art of silverware.
Born in 1866, founder Georg Jensen was a Danish silversmith whose personal philosophy was to create democratic designs that were both beautiful and functional. His artisanal skill, artistic talent and a keen eye for identifying the best emerging designers laid the foundation for the launch of the Georg Jensen brand in Copenhagen in 1904.
With a background in both metalsmithing and fine arts, Georg Jensen revived the tradition of the artist craftsman, and his creations were extremely well received by the public. By the 1920s the Georg Jensen brand had opened retail outlets as far ranging as New York, London, Paris, Stockholm and Berlin.
Today the brand creates a range of beautiful lifestyle products. Georg Jensen watches are sold alongside hollowware, jewellery and items for the home. With a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic design, the brand has stayed true to the artistic style and philosophy of its founder. As with the brand’s other products, Georg Jensen watches embrace the Art Nouveau style of its founder and take inspiration from Danish values: the simplicity of life, the Nordic light, clean water and fresh air.
