Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange Watch

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch takes direct inspiration from the colour of the sparks of heat created by the Porsche’s wheels on the asphalt. It recalls racetrack marks with its vertically brushed dial finish and features a steering wheel-inspired custom rotor exposed through a sapphire-backed case for exhibition purposes.
There has been a constant stream of Porsche-inspired TAG Heuer watches since the famous Swiss watchmaker made its decades-long relationship official with a partnership in 2021. These models include a timepiece devoted to a historic Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 model and a Porsche-infused Connected watch that took the company’s innovative motorsport design silhouette and added it to its forward-leading Smartwatch line. Perhaps the most popular watch to emerge from this strengthened partnership, however, is the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche - a limited Edition watch that you can check out in more detail here. But for 2023, TAG Heuer is releasing another Carrera watch, this time with blazing orange accents that evoke the speed on the racetrack. The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch boasts a mix of complex finishes and nods to Porsche’s racing legacy in several ways. Both TAG Heuer and Porsche have been journeying parallel to one another since 1963. Many of the watches that have been released as part of this journey follow the motorsports silhouettes of the cars they take inspiration from and have been forged from prestigious materials to create sporty, elegant, purist designs for fans of both motorsport and timekeeping. Both TAG Heuer’s manufactured movements and Porsche’s latest turbo engines share the same precision and passion for adrenaline both on and at the side of the racetrack.

There are so many nice finishes and nods to Porsche in this new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch. The 44nn model is crafted from stainless steel and has been finished in a sleek -black DLC coating. The black and orange Porsche watch is a large-sized chronograph and will appeal to fans of the oversized watch or those with broad wrists, yet the black profile of the case follows in the same footsteps as the standard Carrera Chronograph design, with sharp planar surfaces and angular bevelled lugs that are also downturned, enabling the watch to wear far smaller than you would first think. The case is also a satisfying mix of sharp linear brushing and polished finishes. The discreet finishes across the watch give this new Porsche watch from TAG Heuer a new racetrack-inspired edge.
Whilst the crown of this new model has an orange accent ring around it, the black ceramic bezel also features vivid orange flecks of colour in the Porsche lettering. The tachymeter scale is legible and finished in white numerals. The black bezel is also executed in a stunning mix of polished, engraved, painted and radically brushed finishes that uniquely play with the light, contributing to a premium feel on the wrist.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch is powered by the brand’s Heuer 02 Calibre. The in-house automatic chronograph movement has been a flagship movement since 2018 thanks to its 80-hour power reserve and its performance rate of 28.800 vibrations per hour. One of the key features of the movement, put on display through a sapphire crystal glass exhibition window, is a steering wheel-inspired custom rotor accompanied by a vertical clutch chronograph actuation system. The skeleton bridges have received Cotes de Geneve decoration, whilst the blacked-out custom rotor is accompanied by an orange-coloured column wheel. The reliable Heuer 02 movement propels a set of hands around a black vertically brushed main dial that is whole-heartedly track-inspired with multi-layered chronograph sub-dials that are ringed in bright orange with azurage-filled centres. The inner edge of the seconds track around the periphery of the dial also mirrors these same orange accents, as do the details in each of the sub-dials; the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, the small seconds counter at 6 o’clock and the 12-hour totaliser at 9 o’clock. Other features on the dial of this new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch include Super-LumiNova coated hands and white speedometer-style Arabic minute numerals.
The new Porsche watch from TAG Heuer’s Carrera collection is fitted on a black carbon-textured calfskin leather strap with a double row of orange accent stitching for added contrast. A black DLC-coated stainless steel folding clasp with push buttons completes the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph X Porsche Orange watch perfectly.
