History of TW Steel Watches

Dutch watch brand TW Steel was launched in 2005 by father and son team Ton and Jordy Cobelens. The company, its name meaning “the watch in steel”, was set up with the aim to develop and lead the oversized watch market. Rapidly establishing itself as a big, bold, lifestyle brand, TW Steel aims to cater for all tastes and occasions without compromising on the design or build of its watches.

Initially a four-model collection, the range of TW Steel watches has quickly expanded with each timepiece produced to Swiss quality standard. The watches are known for their oversized cases and a unique use of stainless steel. Designed to make a powerful statement, TW Steel watches represent innovation, individuality and high quality with every new model.

Ton Cobelens leads the design process for each new timepiece, while his son, Jordy, handles the day-to-day running of the watch business. Jordy’s drive has helped to firmly establish TW Steel as a major international watch brand, while Ton’s design vision is all the more impressive as he holds no formal design qualifications – just a passion for the design and development of watches.

TW Steel watches hold a unique appeal among watch enthusiasts for their affordable price point and strength of design. The brand has also become involved in the world of motorsports, partnering with the Sahara Force India F1 team, Yamaha Factory Racing and Valentino Rossi’s VR|46 brand and appealing to the fans of these fast paced sports.
