Why the Longines Conquest Should Be Part of Your Luxury Watch Collection

The Conquest watch by Longines is a combination of sportiness and elegance. It has been in manufacture since 1954 and is now one of the luxury watchmakers' best-selling lines. This article outlines everything you need to know about the Longines Conquest line should you be wanting to invest in a model for your collection. We’ll also take this opportunity to introduce you to two new models recently added to the brand’s Conquest series – a men’s panda watch on an indulgent gold-coloured dial and a women’s three-handed time and date watch adorned with lustrous diamonds.

The appeal of the Conquest watch

There are several reasons why you might be contemplating whether to add a Longines Conquest watch to your collection and I’m pretty sure that by the time you get to the end of this article, the reasons “for” will be stacked much higher than the reasons “against”. When looking to purchase a reliable luxury timepiece, it makes sense to go with a brand backed by historical success. Longines is one of the oldest Swiss watchmakers still in business and what’s more – its Conquest watch collection, having run since the 1950s, is equally as reputable.

The great thing about a Longines Conquest watch is no matter how advanced the technology becomes, the designs still retain a sense of originality and classic beauty. Within the collection, you have a diverse choice in style, material and functionality. You can opt for something as simple as a three-hander to cover all eventualities, or something as elegant as a delicate-looking moon phase complication. If you travel frequently, you may be drawn to the GMT variant or you may go for a sportier chronograph. Either way, you can find a watch size to suit your wrist, with sizes starting at a lady’s 29.5mm and reaching up to a much broader and masculine 44mm. The steel Conquest watches from Longines are conventional, whilst the gold-coloured models are undeniably more luxurious in character. But if you can’t decide between the two, no one would blame you. Simply straddle both lanes with a bi-colour option crafted from stainless steel with gold elements and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Longines Conquest watches are known for their accuracy and this is in part due to the V.H.P quartz movement that is fitted to some of the models within this series. The “Very High Precision” quartz movements promise exceptional precision and are also equipped with a perpetual calendar and special hand synchronisation. The latter resets the hands to their original position should the watch come into contact with magnetic fields or suffer a strong jolt, sending the hands out of kilter. These are just a few reasons why a Longines watch from the Conquest series can make a great addition to your growing luxury watch collection, but if you’re still undecided, here are two new models that are certain to twist your arm once and for all.

New Longines Conquest watches for men and women

If you’re like us and you love Longines, you have to admit that Longines Conquest watches are the perfect execution of a daily companion. Firstly, the Conquest watch has a simple dial that bridges the gap between an explorer watch and a classic dress watch. Secondly, you have the crown guards – a great feature for any luxury watch collector seeking out a robust daily beater at this price point. The 2023 releases from the Longines Conquest line follow in the faithful footsteps of the unmistakable Conquest line from yesteryear, adding to an array of colourful options and some features that make them particularly hard to resist.

First up is the Longines Conquest 2023 reference L3.835.4.32.6. The model measures a confident 42mm diameter and is crafted from stainless steel. With a gold and black panda chronograph dial that looks modern and retro all at the same time - the small seconds, 12-hour totalizer and 30-minuter counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock locations respectively are all filled in with a rich black colour and set against a golden shimmering sunray brown display. Silvered polished hands catch the light nicely and pair well with a set of stick indexes around the hour track, framed by a black ring running through the hours and a sporty black tachymeter scale on the bezel. This men’s Longines Conquest Chronograph watch is powered by the automatic L898 movement and is fitted on a stainless steel three-link bracelet with a three-fold clasp to complete its robust and sporty look.

For women, the lady’s Longines Conquest reference L3.430.0.87.6 adds a touch of understated glamour to the wrist with a stainless steel frame measuring a diameter of 34mm. The watch offers a 100-meter water-resistant rating and features a strong glass front crafted from anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. Inside the case is the automatic Calibre L888, which puts its performance of 28,800 vibrations per hour on show through a sapphire exhibition caseback. The movement, which provides a power reserve of 72 hours, propels are set of polished silver-coloured hands around the dial inside a diamond-kissed bezel. The scintillating stones are set around the hour track and accompanied by a glistening row of diamonds in the bezel for an ultra-luxurious finish on the wrist. For women, you couldn’t get a more feminine and classic watch. The white mother-of-pearl dial is a perfect match for the stainless steel bracelet, which secures around the wrist with a Longines-engraved triple safety folding clasp.
