Oris Releases Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy Watches in Stainless Steel

The new Cotton Candy versions of the Diver Sixty-Five watch by Oris are now released in steel format with a choice of a matching steel bracelet or a colourful Perlon strap to match their eye-catching “lipstick pink”, “wild green” and “sky blue” dial colours.

Back in 2021, a trio of fascinating colours appeared in the Oris Divers Sixty-Five watch collection, transforming the retro diver’s watch into carnival colours. Their name? Cotton Candy. Measuring a unisex 38mm diameter, the watches were a middle ground for those with smaller-sized wrists and entered the scene in punchy pastel colours. The watches shared properties synonymous with the highly desirable Divers Sixty-Five watch collection, including a robust housing, impressive water resistance and a legible dial, along with an easy-to-facilitate bezel that rotated. Whilst their colours were a far cry from those previously seen throughout the Divers Sixty-Five watch collection, what made them look even more unique in appearance was their eye-catching bronze outfit. Their matching bronze bracelets not only enhanced the gentlemanly dimensions of their cases but followed in the footsteps of the Oris Holstein Edition 2020 watch, with screws on the edges of the links as opposed to faux rivets and plates. Having experienced instant success with the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy bronze watches, a line of tailored straps soon followed. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five watches were each offered on a Perlon strap made from recycled materials in a matching colour to their dials. Now it’s time to introduce a new generation of Cotton Candy watches, available for the first time in stainless steel.

If you’re acquainted with the Diver’s Sixty-Five watch already, you’ll be aware that these dive watches from Oris hark back to an important milestone in the brand’s heritage. One particularly iconic model released in 1965 has inspired this range of dive watches, leveraged even further by its affordable price tag. The range already has a broad spectrum of dial colours, sizes, case materials and features to choose from, including a chronograph version and a handful of limited-edition models like the Carl Brashear and Movember models, for example. Although now equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel, the original releases from the 1960s featured bi-directional rotating bezels. Some of the displays also featured boxed Arabic numerals, whilst others afforded a track with dot and baton hour markers - both of which have been seen on more recent versions too. The new stainless steel versions of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy watches, however, follow in the faithful footsteps of the bronze iterations. Here’s all you need to know about the new steel Cotton Candy watches from Oris for 2023…

The new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy Steel watches

Continuing with the story of the “lipstick pink”, “wild green” and “sky blue” Divers Sixty-Five watches, the new Oris Cotton Candy models celebrate the same sporty and playful styling with a case diameter of 38mm and a choice between a stainless steel bracelet or a Perlon strap. The multipiece stainless steel case is topped with a knurled unidirectional rotating bezel that can be used for measuring elapsed time underwater. An easy-to-grip design makes aligning the 12 o’clock location on the bezel with the central minute hand a complete breeze, whilst a 100-meter water-resistant rating gives you plenty of scope for dips in and out of the water.

The top of each Cotton Candy watch in steel is secured by a domed piece of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, which protects the beautiful pink, green and blue dial colours from fading or scratching when exposed to the elements. Special engravings also feature on the back of the screwed-in case, whilst a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock helps assist with the water-resistant capability of the case. Inside the new stainless steel cases of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy steel models is the Calibre 733, which performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It also provides a power reserve of 41 hours once fully wound and comprises 26 jewels, an instantaneous date and a date corrector function.

Onto the dials of these new steel Cotton Candy watches by Oris and it is clear to see that experts at the Swiss watchmaking facilities intended these designs to be as legible and as easy to read as possible. The different “sky blue”, “wild grass” and “lipstick pink” coloured dials all feature circular and rectangular hour markers that have been treated with plenty of Super-LumiNova to match the luminous hands.

Whether you choose to wear the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy steel watches on a matching multi-piece stainless steel bracelet or a recycled Perlon strap – both options provide a resolutely elegant look on the wrist. The Perlon straps add a pop of colour to the arm, whilst the metal bracelet option, securing with a folding clasp feature, provides a sophisticated option for pairing with evening attire.
