Meet the NOMOS Ludwig 33 Gold Watch

Here are 5 reasons why you should buy a Nomos Ludwig watch. 1) They have extremely flat cases making them ideal for pairing with sophisticated or professional attire. 2) They are crafted using high-quality German manufacturing traditions. 3) Some of the top models within the line are fitted with the company’s in-house built Swing System. 4) Their classic dials boast traditional Roman numeral hour markers and elegantly shaped bezels. 5) Nomos Ludwig watches make for the ideal dress watch option. Convinced yet? There’s more because the esteemed German watchmaker released a solid gold version earlier this year, which looks simply stunning. Here are the details you need to know about the Nomos Ludwig 33 Gold watch.

Honouring the history of the town that Nomos calls home, Nomos Glashutte released the Ludwig 33 in 18ct gold earlier this year. The model belongs to a range of classic and sophisticated watches characterised by Roman numeral hour markers, narrow lugs, flat cases, delicate indices and railroad minute scales. If that sounds like a bit of you, you’re going to love the Nomos Ludwig 33 Gold watch, one of the collection’s most recent releases. This is a pretty important note to make about the timepiece because its value is sure to increase with time. Sure, this is not the first gold Nomos watch, but its small 33mm case is, no doubt, a perfect timepiece for the slender wrist, suiting both female and male brand enthusiasts alike.

The new Ludwig 33 Gold watch from Nomos demonstrates a mark of reverence primarily since it’s a smaller size of a former 35mm option released some 15 years ago with a Mocha or white dial to choose from. Whilst drawing its design from the past, this latest interpretation is somewhat more classic. It features long straight lugs that create the impression of a larger size despite its unimposing 33mm proportions. The release of the watch in its 18ct yellow gold casing is a nice way to mark the brand’s 175-odd years of German manufacture.

Its case, as mentioned, measures an unimposing, perfectly round 33mm diameter and features a classic dial with traditional Roman numerals in a crisp black hue. Always looking at home on the wrist whether wearing this timepiece in the office, for an evening meal out, or as a general daily beater, the Nomos Ludwig 33 Gold is a nice addition to any growing luxury watch collection and balances clarity with timeless elegance in perfect proportions.

The Nomos Ludwig 33 Gold watch presents the time on a silvery white dial that is framed by a recessed bezel. Slim and refined, this elegant bezel opens up the dial to enhance a sense of spaciousness when referencing the time through its strong scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, treated with anti-reflective technology.  The case is also integrated with 30-meter water resistance. Its gleaming, radiant galvanised dial has been equipped with golden central hour and minute hands whilst the seconds can be tracked in the sub-scale at 6 o’clock. A delicate rail track minute scale completes the design of the dial, whilst underneath the bonnet of the watch is a beautifully crafted manual winding movement.

The in-house developed Alpha movement is one of Nomos’ most reliable movements. Providing up to 43 hours of power reserve and comprising 17 jewels, its robust and trustworthy design has powered Nomos watches from the Orion, Tetra, Club and Tangente series. Some of the Alpha’s finest components are its three-quarter plate, rhodium-plated surfaces, blued steel screws, perlage decoration, and Glashutte ribbing.

Completing its elegant and opulent aesthetic, the Nomos Ludwig 33 Gold is fitted on a luxurious brown leather strap, securing with an 18ct yellow gold pin buckle engraved with the Nomos logo. Nomos’ Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan straps are made from special horse leather and are breathable. Sourced from large hindquarters of Texan workhorses, the straps undergo an elaborate manufacturing process where they are tanned using pure vegetable lye before being cut at the edge and, in this case, adorned with matching brown stitching down the sides.
