Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph 3580 Series Watch Review

There is a genuine affiliation between modern timekeeping and the military with the Luminox Navy SEALs watch collection. The brand, since it was founded in 1989, has spent a considerable amount of time forging these links with the US Navy SEALs to create robust timekeeping instruments that meet the demanding needs of military personnel. At the same time, the values of Luminox as a brand are effectively adhered to. The new Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph 3580 Series watch for 2022 is a perfect example of an outdoor watch with a considerable military appeal.

Recently Luminox has been focusing on its new motto: “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast”. It takes the famous mantra from the US Navy SEALs and underscores a message that being slow and methodical when completing an important task is the most effective method to success. The latest chronograph from the Luminox Navy SEALs watches collection is the new Luminox Navy SEALs Chronograph 3580 Series reference XS.3581.SIS.  Just like the message behind the new chronograph watch, the latest instrument is a carefully calculated design. Its all-black design (aside from a flash of red) is incredibly stealthy for all manner of military-related tasks, yet it also looks modern and masculine on the wrist of the modern-day Luminox watch collector.

The new Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast” watch measures a broad 45mm diameter, creating a huge wrist presence.  The case is crafted from black CARBONOX. This carbon composite material is sleek and modern and is a whole six times lighter than a conventional stainless steel case. It’s also three times lighter than titanium! There are other advantages to wearing a CARBONOX watch from Luminox.  The material is also anti-allergenic and anti-magnetic.

The complexity of the new Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph XS.3581.SIS is tastefully disguised by its clever design, but it actually features a three-dimensional elapsed time scale on the top of its unidirectional rotating bezel, making it an ideal tool for measuring elapsed time whilst in the sky or deep underwater. The large luminous marker at 12 o’clock on the bezel is a familiar design feature of the Luminox Navy SEAL watch series. The chronograph boasts a black dial, penetrated by horizontal stick markers situated around the edge of the display. These represent the hour markers. At night, these hour markers illuminate in a vibrant green colour, thanks to the brand’s innovative Light Technology. All apart from the 12 o’clock hour marker, that is.  Instead, this location is identified by a bright orange hue.  These tritium gas-filled chambers are also found on the central hour and minute hand, as well as green-glowing hands on the chronograph sub-scales.  Promising a glow that will last for up to 25 years, regardless of whether they are exposed to light or not, these gas tubes are considered a superior alternative to Super-LumiNova by many tool watch fanatics. In addition to this, gloss black markings feature on the recessed rings of the sub-dials placed against a matte black dial and white numerals are set against a black background to create a crisp date at 6 o’clock. To finish the sleek design of the dial, flashes of red can be seen in the “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast” wording,  the five-minute increments and the “Swiss Made” lettering.

As well as a useful unidirectional rostering bezel, the new Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph watch for 2022 features a 316L stainless steel screwed caseback, engraved with the Navy SEALs logo,  as well as a mineral glass front with a hardness of 550-650 Vickers and large crown guards protecting a Luminox-signed crown with a double security gasket at 3 o’clock.  In addition to this, the watch is also 200-meter water resistant, making this all-black design an ideal companion for plenty of underwater exploration.

Like most Luminox military watches, the new Navy SEAL Chronograph 3580 Series watch is powered by a Swiss-made quartz movement. Easy to maintain, accurate and durable, these quartz-powered watches are perfect for their job whilst in and out of challenging tasks and missions.

A black textured rubber band completes the sporty yet military-inspired look of this new Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph “Slow is Smooth,  Smooth is Fast” watch.  A double tang buckle attaches securely to the wrist for durability when worn for practical situations. The new Luminox Navy SEAL watch for 2022 will appeal to those new to collecting Luminox watches, as well as those with a love for these rugged tools.  The collection was first launched back in 1992 when Luminox was approached by an officer in charge of procurement for the Navy SEALs. His mission was to “cut through the darkness” and so the partnership between one of the world’s most elite forces and the watchmaker was born. Always powerful and always reliable, a Luminox Navy SEAL Chronograph watch can be used for timing important missions, lighting the way to accurate timekeeping in dark conditions, and exploring plenty of dark and daring waters.
