Just Landed: The Czapek Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” Watch

The diamond hour markers designated to the hour track of this new Czapek & Cie Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch are shaped using an exclusive Czapek & Cie diamond cut that has been designed and registered as a proprietary Czapek cut by London company, Fuzion Ltd.

The order book reopens for Czapek & Cie this week, as it unveils some exceptionally beautiful timepieces as the annual Watches & Wonders event in Geneva rolls out. One of these includes the Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch, which serves as a nod to the Dark Sector Laboratory and telescopes that are located at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica. It features a segmented hour track that foregoes the use of hour markers and offers a simple time-only display in anthracite. Also – the Antarctique Revelation watch, exposing its expertly engineered movement through the dial of a chic sports watch design. Now Czapek & Cie reveals a scintillating diamond-adorned mother-of-pearl Antarctique watch in two different shades of grey and white with the new Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch. Each model has been set with diamonds around the hour track that have been executed using a registered and specially designed Czapek diamond cut. This unusual Antarctique watch from Czapek & Cie is sure to prove a popular collectable, made even more desirable thanks to its unique dial interpreting a map of the clouds.

The allure of the Antarctique watch collection

The Antarctique watch collection by Czapek & Cie has always been loved for its sporty elegant look and its sophisticated appeal combined with an in-house developed movement. The cases from this collection all have an unimposing depth, enabling them to slip nicely underneath the cuff of an office shirt. Likewise, they pair well with casual attire at the weekend thanks to their undeniable sport-chic aesthetic. Through the transparent caseback of each Czapek & Cie Antarctique watch, you have the chance to admire the harmoniously working components of an in-house movement as it performs. Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek & Cie explains; “This watch, whatever the colour, is a thrill for both the newcomer and the horological expert. The neophyte will instinctively fall in love with the dial and the remarkable movement inside, while the expert can use the watch almost as an exhibition piece to explain how a movement works and what makes haute horologerie so unique”

The new Czapek & Cie Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch

The latest watch to join this collection is the Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages”, which means “a map of the clouds”. The timepiece is a mix of iridescent shimmering tones, exuberant finishes and scintillating diamonds that, together, depict the delicate white fluffy clouds as they are seen against the sky. Intriguing textures and fascinating details play put across the surface of the dial, creating a contemporary twist on Czapek & Cie’s traditional watchmaking methods. Playing with the rich glow of mother of pearl, there are two Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watches to choose from; one with a white mother-of-pearl dial and another with a grey mother-of-pearl display. Both models are offset by a luxurious array of glittering diamonds seen in the hour track. The 12 o’clock location comprises ‘Antarctique cut’ diamonds, whilst the remaining hour locations feature single princess-cut diamonds that refract the light beautifully when the watch is tilted at an angle.

Laying upon a simmering display of mother of pearl, the diamonds are embedded neatly into the display, which uses the most lustrous parts of the oyster shell to create an illusion similar to cartography. The dial also features six fine guilloche gridlines that add yet another layer of depth to the display. The mother-of-pearl dials seen in watches manufactured by many luxury watch brands are rarely guilloched due to their fragility and their delicacy, thus the design of this Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch suddenly becomes all the more alluring.

The elaborately crafted Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch is available in a 38.5mm case and can be purchased in a Stormy Grey or Misty White mother-of-pearl dial. The watch also wears diamonds on its bezel, lugs and base of the case, which have been meticulously set into the surface of the stainless steel to add further indulgence to the design, as well as enhancing the shape-shifting lustre of the pearl dial.

At the heart of the new Czapek & Cie Antarctique S “La Carte des Nuages” watch is the self-winding Calibre SXH5.01, which has been conceived entirely in-house with an off-centre micro-rotor and a free-sprung balance wheel with variable inertia and four gold adjustable weights. It also features a gear train held into place by several skeletonised bridges and can be admired via the back of the case as the movement performs to a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour, producing a total power reserve once fully wound of 60 hours.

These new watches are finished on a stainless steel integrated bracelet with an "Easy Release" system and micro-adjustment device, as well an additional rubber or leather band.  If you’d like to learn more about the new Czapek & Cie Antarctique S “La Carte des Nauages” watch, either with the grey or white mother-of-pearl dial, you can call and speak to a member of our Jura Watches sales team today on 01335 453453
