Introducing the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton Watch

Good news for Norqain fans who couldn’t get their hands on last year’s first-ever skeletonised watch, Norqain seems to have listened to its audience and ensures that the new Independence 22 Skeleton watch will be manufactured in batches this year to ensure that every fan gets a chance to own their very own model. Collecting rare and highly anticipated luxury watches is what this game is all about. For years, highly sought-after timepieces have been anticipated by fans on huge waiting lists. Does it make a collector want to own them all the more? Probably. But Norqain is certainly going to keep its huge fan base wanting more by creating an affordable collectable that isn’t going to become elusive within minutes. That was the case for its former skeletonised watch last year, which sold out within hours. The new Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch is going to go down a treat and here’s why...

To design the stylish new Independence 22 Skeleton watch, this time the manufacturer swaps out the DLC finish of the former and executes this stainless steel case with a total of three different surface finishes. The great news is that multiple batches of the new model will be produced, instead of the former 100-piece release. Like the rest of the Independence watch series, the new Norqain Independent 22 Skeleton watch measures a diameter of 42mm and boasts an angular case shape that transcends the same steel sports aesthetic that has become so sought-after in today’s modern-day market. With an 11.8mm thickness, the watch creates a presence without feeling too bulky. The sides of the lugs feature shallow cut-outs that not only allow them to stand out but exude a modern and dynamic feel.

On top of this sandblasted, polished and brushed case is a smooth bezel, chamfered and beautifully proportioned to enhance the angular characteristics of the watch without being too overbearing. As well as sufficing as a stylish sports watch, the new Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch is also quite a spectacle to marvel at. There is something undeniably entrancing about seeing a mechanical watch’s heart laid open in all its glory through the surface of the dial. What’s more, Norqain’s signature plate on the left-hand side of the case gives you plenty of room for a specialised engraving should you so wish. The box-shaped sapphire crystal glass front with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant properties lends to the overall steel sports watch aesthetic, delivering on its role to protect the dial's surface from all manner of damage, including scratching, denting, dust, heat, light and moisture. The back of the watch’s case is screwed down as is the screw-down crown, signed with the Norqain logo as a hallmark of authenticity and a symbol of quality craftsmanship. Adding to the functionality of this sports watch is a 100-meter water-resistant capability.

Taking a closer look at the dial of the new Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch, you’ll see a black outer chapter ring bearing the indices, clearly enhanced by C1 Super-LumiNova material for plenty of nighttime legibility. The centre of the dial is left unadorned to show all the intricate parts of the mechanical movement from within. On the underside of the watch’s sapphire crystal glass front is the Norqain brand lettering, whilst the edges of the watch’s black rehaut feature clear minute markings in five-minute increments. If you’re familiar with the style running throughout the Independence watch collection, you’ll note that the skeletonised handset of the new Norqain Independence 22 watch is maintained. For an added touch of contrast, the top of the second hand is coated in a red colour.

Inside the robust stainless steel case of the new Norqain Independence, 22 Skeleton watch is the Calibre NN08S. The automatic movement is based on the Sellita SW200-1. The skeletonised movement is certified to COSC standards and offers a strengthened architecture that differs from many other skeletonised movements. Whilst the stripping away of material from bridges and other components often weakens some parts of the movement, the Calibre NN08S has mounting points that are secured by two connecting arms that improve rigidity and overall durability. A power reserve of 38 hours is guaranteed upon full winding of the movement. It also beats at a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour. A ruthenium plating applied to the integral parts of the movement elevates the aesthetics of the Calibre NN08S for viewing through the front and back of the case.

Brushed outer links and polished central links define the design of the stainless steel bracelet that attaches the new Norqain Independence 22 watch to the wrist. The folding clasp is both secure but easy to operate under the fingertips. Although essentially a non-DLC version of the Norqain Independence watch released last year, this new model exudes a more conventional look on the wrist, appealing to fans of the classic steel sports watch aesthetic. The fact that the watch will be manufactured in batches as opposed to a limited release of 100 pieces is certainly a good thing, enabling anyone who wants to be a part of the watch’s elite fan base to be so.
