Introducing the new Junghans Max Bill Edition 60 Set

Junghans releases a set of three Max Bill watches to commemorate 60 years of the Bauhaus wristwatch – two of which are new complications to the Max Bill series along with a versatile 38mm automatic model.

Some things are better in packages. That’s certainly the case for Junghans and its new limited edition Max Bill set-of-three watch collection, which commemorates 60 years of the Bauhaus-styled watch collection designed by architect, student and graphic designer - Max Bill. Following the regimented, simplified and minimalist design of the popular Max Bill watch series by Junghans, the three new models, which are only available as a set, celebrate the same Bauhaus design language that the watch first became so recognised for. Only 1060 of the Edition Set 60 have been made available worldwide, making each unique collection a must-have addition for any serious Junghans watch collectors. The Max Bill Edition Set 60 includes two new complications to the Max Bill line, as well as a 38mm automatic model. All three provide the wearer with similar information but in different ways whilst working within a style that is familiar to collectors of Junghans Max Bill watches. One thing that all three Max Bill Edition watches share in this new Edition 60 Set is a striking white dial with slender hands and needle-fine hour markers measuring various lengths.

Junghans Maxi Bill Automatic

First up is the Junghans Max Bill Automatic in a slimline anthracite polished PVD coated stainless steel case that measures a 38mm diameter. This is a simple three-handed model with a date feature residing at 3 o’clock. The central hands are anthracite in colour to match the finish on the case. The Max Bill Automatic watch also features a 4-times screwed stainless steel caseback with a printed edition logo on the back of its mineral glass. A special environmentally-friendly orange-coloured luminescent material also fills the central hands on the white dial, while the 12 o’clock hour marker is represented in a vibrant orange colour, along with a black special “60” indication on the minute scale. At the heart of this Junghans Max Bill Edition 60 Aet Automatic watch is the J800.1 movement, based on the ETA 2824-2 developed by ebauche. The automatic movement is capable of delivering a 38-hour power reserve. The 30-meter water-resistant stainless steel case with a sleek grey PVD coating is attached to a grey leather strap with an orange lining and a grey PVD-coated buckle fastening to finish.

Junghans Max Bill MEGA Kleine Sekunde Edition

Next up is the Max Bill MEGA Kleine Sekunde Edition. On first impressions, it looks faithful to many Max Bill watches with its small second sub-dial located at 6 o’clock. Again, the 12 o’clock location is represented by a slim orange-coloured stick marker which joins a set of thin stick markers around the rest of the hour track and a special “60” reference made at the top of the minute scale. The small second counter replaces the central sweeping second hand, leaving the central anthracite-coloured hour and minute hands free to grace the clean white dial. The Junghans Max Bill MEGA Kleine Sekunde Edition watch is crafted from 30-meter water-resistant stainless steel and coated in an anthracite polished PVD colour. But the Junghans Max Bill MEGA Kleine Sekunde Edition watch is powered by a radio-controlled calibre J101.66, which functions off an atomic time signal. The multi-frequency-controlled movement automatically searches for signals transmitted across 5 frequencies using the Junghans’ autoscan feature. As a result, its time zone setting is precise to the second and features a date function at 3 o’clock as well as an incredibly discreet perpetual calendar function that only needs adjusting every four years. The watch measures a 38mm diameter and comes complete on a grey leather strap with an orange lining and PVD coated buckle.

Junghans Max Bill Regulator Edition

Lastly - the Junghans Max Bill Regulator Edition. Like the MEGA Kleine Sekunde Edition, this is also a totally new complication for the Max Bill watch collection. It features a white matte dial with a time-only display in a regulator style. The orange lume-filled minute hand is centrally mounted whilst the small register for the hours resides at the top of the dial, presented in Arabic numerals and another orange coloured hand. The Max Bill Regulator Edition watch also features a small second sub-dial at 6H, protected underneath a sapphire crystal glass front. Flip the watch over to the reverse side and the special edition numeral is applied to a 5-times screwed caseback with mineral glass. Inside the watch’s 30-meter water-resistant case, featuring an anthracite-coloured PVD coating is a self-winding movement that provides a 40-hour-power reserve. The 38mm model sits at a 10.5mm height and wraps comfortably around the wrist with a grey leather strap and traditional buckle fastening coated in matching anthracite PVD. This unique design yet again underscores how Junghans continues to pay homage to the essence of the Max Bill watch collection whilst looking towards creating new and interesting ways to tell the time. To complete the experience, the presentation box, which holds all three beautiful timepieces inside, is executed with a portrait of Max Bill on the inside of the slip cover.
