G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition Watch Review

Designed in collaboration with the Royal Air Force, Casio G-Shock have launched the all new GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition watch. Featuring one of the brand’s iconic Carbon Core Guard cases inspired by the Eurofighter Typhoon jet, a stealthy colourway and some unique RAF design tropes including the official Air Force slogan “Per ardua ad astra”, we have no doubt that this limited edition will be an instant sell-out on its release.

Expected at the end of October, the G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition has been carefully designed to accommodate the severe environments faced by pilots. It’s carbon-reinforced resin case and three layer carbon fibre bezel measures to a 63mm by 54.1mm in size, one of the largest watches we have seen in quite a while. It’s striking appearance on the wrist includes three buttons on the right side of the case arranged to resemble a helicopter control stick while also contributing to ease of operation in the cockpit.

Thanks to its Carbon Core Guard structure, the limited edition delivers superior shock resistance including rigidity and resistance to degrading. Seamlessly integrated through the case and case back, carbon fibre ensures high strength while weighing only a remarkable 80 grams in total. The stealthy grey and white colour scheme with a black carbon fibre bezel is inspired by the colours of the Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighter which is designed to make the plane difficult to spot in the sky during covert operations. The G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition continues to impress with a 200 metre water resistant rating, temperature resistance to -10 °c and scratch resistant domed mineral glass.

The intricate-looking grey dial features a combination of both analog and digital features, both of which are automatically illuminated when you tilt your wrist towards you. A luminous Neobrite coating on the central hands also provides illumination in the dark. Powering the many features available within the G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition is a classic quartz calibre with an accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month and an estimated battery life of 2 years. Some of its remarkable features include 5 daily alarms, snooze function, auto calendar, barometer functions, Bluetooth connectivity, built in sensors for accelerometer, compass, barometer, altimeter and thermometer, countdown timer, date and weekday display, step counter, stopwatch function, sunrise and sunset display and a world timer function.

To commemorate their partnership with the Royal Air Force, the G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition watch features a grey resin strap detailed with the words “Per ardua ad astra” on the band keeper. The moto, which translates to “Through adversity to the stars”, can also be found on the inside of the limited edition packaging alongside the Royal Air Force badge.

Expected to be released later this month, the G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition is available to pre-order on the Jura Watches website here at a retail price of £349. If we’re to go by other G-Shock limited editions that have come before it, we have high expectations that this new release will sell out just as quickly! With this in mind, if you’re interested in the G-Shock GravityMaster GR-B200 RAF Limited Edition, we highly recommend you place an order for it as soon as possible.
