Bremont Releases New WR-45 Chronograph Watch

Did you know that British F1 team Williams Racing has achieved 244 podiums in races it has entered? Bremont knows it since the watchmaker has been working closely with the team for three years now. The partnership between the Henley-on-Thames watchmaker and the Formula 1 racing team is a strong one, bound by values of precision, quality engineering and reliability. The link between the two draws upon both respective British heritages and a dedication to precision engineering. With that in mind, Bremont has released a brand new limited edition timepiece in honour of this partnership ahead of the 77th Formula 1 Aramco British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Meet the new Bremont WR-45 watch.

As mentioned, Williams Racing has achieved a total of 244 podium finishes in its time and as a nod to this, the new limited edition Bremont WR-45 watch has been made exclusive to just 244 pieces worldwide. The watchmaker has taken inspiration from the design of the chassis used for this season’s FW-45 model for 2023. Although new in style and design for Bremont’s prestigious collection of Williams F1 watches, the model shares the same values of high performance and extreme durability with its siblings.

Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato remarks on the new release: “The technological crossover between Formula 1 and precision watchmaking is substantial and the compelling collaboration between Bremont and Williams Racing has really taken the brand’s Motorsport Collection to a new level. It’s wonderful to see so much energy and interest in the sport today and we’re delighted to be part of its rich history,”.

The new Bremont WR-45 Limited Edition watch is almost monochromatic in design and has been injected with blue emission luminous material, which can be appreciated across its dial markings. What’s more, the watch is a chronograph and measures a confident diameter, ensuring it evokes all the racing spirit normally associated with this powerful and adrenaline-fueled line of wristwatches. Complete with some very special touches, the new Williams F1 watch by Bremont has a unique custom-made Willaims Racing-inspired rotor, which can be admired through the back of a sapphire exhibition feature on the reverse side of the watch. Let’s take a look at all the features of the new Bremont WR-45 Limited Edition watch for 2023…

The new Bremont WR-45 Limited Edition watch

The new WR-45 Limited Edition watch by Bremont measures a diameter of 43mm and is crafted from the watchmaker’s stainless steel 3-piece Trip-Tick® case construction which has been DLC treated in black. This stealthy richness extends into the dial of the chronograph watch, which features a tri-compax layout with sub-counters located at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, alongside flashes of electric blue seen in the counters themselves. The rectangular hour markers seen on the dial, along with the central hour and minute hands have all been treated with Super-LumiNova material that glows richly during the night with an eye-catching blue emission. The blue elements seen across the dial are a reflection of the racing team’s iconic livery. At 9 o’clock, a white-filled sub-counter offers the running seconds with an electric blue hand that pops. At 3 o’clock you can reference the 30-minute sub-counter, whilst the 6 o’clock sub-dial offers the 12-hour totaliser. As seen in other Bremont Williams watches, the 12 o’clock marker is represented by a triangle and is framed in red to match the finish of the central chronograph seconds hand, reminiscent of 20th-century rally timers.

As mentioned, the back of the case is equipped with a piece of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass to match the anti-reflective material used for the front of the case. This feature exposes the mechanical performance of the Calibre BE-53AV, which features a glucydor balance wheel, a Nivaflex mainspring and an anachrom balance spring, not to mention 27 jewels. The self-winding movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve once fully wound of 56 hours. The custom-decorated rotor, inspired by Williams Racing, has a racing car rim and can be experienced through the back of the case also. The rotor can be seen bearing the Williams Racing logo and is secured inside a case that is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The case of the new Bremont WR-45 watch features pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, as well as a push down crown. To continue its sporty spirit, experts at Bremont choose to fit the watch on an Alcantara strap in matching black. The material was used on old steering wheels – yet another subtle nod to the heritage of British racing. As with other Williams Racing watches by Bremont, the new limited edition WR-45 watch comes with a certified original wheel nut taken from a historic Williams car.

To finish, Co-Founder of Bremont, Nick English comments on the significance of the watch’s links to Silverstone; “As we gear up for our home F1 race at Silverstone, and indeed the wider summer sporting season, we are thrilled to be launching the WR[1]45 in partnership with Williams Racing. Silverstone is of course where the first Formula 1 Grand Prix was hosted in 1950 and is a track that I hold dear to my heart having had the pleasure of driving it myself. The WR-45 is a perfect representation of the elite engineering that both Bremont and Williams Racing’s foundations are built upon.”

Extending on this, James Vowles – the Williams Team Principle adds; “The synergies between motor racing and high-end watchmaking are clear, not least of all in terms of the crossover in manufacturing skills and similarities in complex CNC machining to very high tolerances. With our British heritage it couldn’t be more fitting for Williams Racing to be partnering with Bremont, a brand based very close to Grove, and we’re excited to be releasing this latest addition to the range, named in tribute to the 2023 FW-45 car. Both firms are experts in precision engineering and bringing these two worlds together in this way is a really lovely celebration of British manufacturing at its best.”
