Bremont Ejects MB Viper Limited Edition Watch

The new Bremont Martin Baker Viper watch is presented in an eye-catching black and orange case design crafted from black DLC titanium. It houses the in-house developed ENG300 movement that has been subject to Bremont’s H1 timing standard, not to mention Martin Baker’s extensive list of rigorous testing standards.

Bremont’s relationship with Martin Baker

The story of Bremont and Martin Baker began when the watchmaker was approached in 2007 by Britain’s leading manufacturer of fighter ejection seat technology and was asked to create an aviation watch that would embody the “Made in Britain” philosophy that both businesses have woven their ethos around. Building a watch around the integrity of a device that defines “life and death” was crucial to the design, thus it had to withstand the rigorous testing programme that each ejection seat must be subjected to. The Bremont MB watch was born in 2009 with the release of the MBI model – a watch that was exclusively available to those who have ejected from a Martin Baker seat. Next came the MBII – available to all. Watches from the MB series have a distinct coloured barrel and a unique flexible ring that attaches to the brand’s patented Trip Tick case construction, enabling the movement and mechanism to “float” in a controlled manner, thus enabling it to withstand shock impact whilst the watch survives extreme G-forces when lunged from the ejection seat. Additionally, the inner case of the watch has an anti-magnetic shield made from iron that works as a “Faraday Cage”.

In 2011, the first MBII military edition for US Navy VFA-81 Sunliners was released, followed by the MBIII in 2014, which featured a non-chronograph GMT design. It was put through the same extensive testing programme, including an Altitude Test Chamber that simulates taking the watch up to 100,000 feet for 60 minutes, plus exposure to fog, salt and vibrational testing. Additionally, the MBII watch featured a bronze aluminium knurled-effect barrel and a yellow and black loop on the second hand that echoed the Martin Baker ejection pull handle. Over the last 7 years, we’ve seen an MBII White watch released, an MBIII 10th anniversary model and some redesigned MBII watches with a “configure your own” option in 2020. This takes us to the here and now, where Bremont releases the brand new MB Viper watch, clad in a breath-taking orange colour and able to withstand MB’s multiple testing strategies once more, including; Live Ejection Testing, MFOS Crashworthy Testing, Extreme Temperature Endurance, Vibration Testing, Altitude Testing and Aircraft Carrier Deck Testing.

The new Bremont MB Viper watch

Throughout last year, Bremont was doing many wonderful things. One of them was putting its in-house ENG300 movement through Martin Baker’s rigorous testing strategies to deem it tough and durable enough to be hurled from one of the Martin Baker’s ejection seats with considerable force. Suffice to say, it passed the test and was put inside the new Bremont MB Viper watch – a pilot’s watch clothed in an unmissable vibrant orange colour. To pass as a fortified MB watch, Bremont has equipped the Bremont Viper watch with several signature design elements. These include the anti-shock movement mount, the innovative Trip Tick case construction and a lightweight case crafted from Grade 5 titanium, coated in a black DLC treatment to give the watch a bold, dynamic and powerful look that is in keeping with its purpose.

The ENG300 engine

The Bremont ENG300 movement keeps impeccable timing whilst protected inside Bremont’s faultless design. Certified to chronometer standards using Bremont’s H1 timing standard, the movement comprises a silicone escape wheel, a free sprung hair spring with an inertia weight, KIF shock protection, and rhodium-plated and gold-plated bridges. A rhodium-plated tungsten rotor has also been custom designed and, along with the other components of the movement, can be admired through a flat sapphire-backed case whilst it performs at a rate of 25,200 vibrations per hour. Once fully wound, it also provides a power reserve of 65 hours whilst protected inside a 100-meter water-resistant case.

The dial of the new Bremont MB Viper watch is particularly striking, despite its clean layout and its innate simplicity. The minute markers around the edge of the dial are represented by double digits and dominate the dial, replacing where the hour track would normally be. Additionally, a seconds track frames this section, whilst a set of chevron-patterned central hour and minute hands take centre stage within the inner section of the white metal dial. The white, black and yellow colours and the striped design on the hands are reminiscent of the pull handle on the Martin Baker ejection seats and have been sported on the base of the central second hand in previous models. Completing the dial of this new Bremont MB Viper watch is the H1 Timing Standard reference at 6 o’clock, the proud Bremont logo at the top of the dial and a red-coloured central seconds hand. The entire dial is protected by a flat piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass.

The 43.5mm black DLC-coated titanium Bremont MB Viper watch also features an orange anodized aluminium case middle and is exclusive to a limited run of just 300 pieces worldwide. Fitted on an orange canvas strap with a DLC-coated pin buckle and an additional black canvas strap - the new Bremont MB Viper watch certainly makes a statement with its impactful design. It comes in a special Martin Baker ejection seat presentation box with full warranty and paperwork, embodying the true meaning of “Tested Beyond Endurance” and can be purchased here at Jura Watches.
