Breitling Professional Endurance Pro Watch Review

Kitted out with a Breitlight case, SuperQuartz movement and a colourful pulsometer scale, the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro made lots of noise on its release yesterday – and rightly so! It’s scratch proof and lightweight aesthetic has been especially designed with professional athletes in mind who require timing functions, accuracy and at-a-glance readability all in one place.
Since it first debuted, the Breitling Professional collection has provided a stylish selection of quartz powered timepieces for professionals of their field. From the entry level Aerospace to the futuristic Exospace, the collection has offered feature-filled designs capable of high accuracy, durability and comfort. This time round, Breitling are moving their Professional family further into the world of sport with the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro being described as the ultimate athleisure watch. The collection of five watches are promoted alongside the brand’s Breitling Triathlon Squad which consists of Iron Man World Champions Jan Froderno, Chris McCormack and Daniela Ryf.
While offering an essentially contemporary aesthetic for the modern-day athlete, the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro of course still incorporates some of the brand’s remarkable history into its design. During their second Summit Webcast yesterday afternoon, Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, describes the collection as inspired by a 1970s Breitling watch known as the Spring. This historic model was renowned for combining a pulsometer with a lightweight resin design so that athletes could check their heart rate on something comfortable on the wrist. You could also argue that the retro 70’s vibe is also seen throughout the choice of colours available on the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro watches which are available in yellow, orange, red, blue and white.
Like all the tool watches within the Breitling Professional collection, the Breitling Professional Endurance Pro is equipped with one of the brand’s legendary SuperQuartz movements. The B82 calibre is 10 times more accurate than a standard quartz movement and has been COSC certified to -4 to +6 seconds per day. It provides exceptional precision of the hours, minutes and small seconds and chronograph function with 12 hour and 30 minute counters.
Presenting all of these useful functions is a smooth black dial decorated in accents of your choice of colour. One of the most interesting and unique elements to the dial is the steeply sloped pulsometer chapter ring. This is a feature often used by doctors to check the heart rate of a patient, but it is also essential for athletes looking to monitor their heart rate during intense activity. The dial also features Superluminova numerals and central hands for optimal legibility even in the dark. We are also treated to the iconic Breitling logo at 12 o’clock, a red coloured central chronograph seconds hand and the “Endurance” motif at 8 o’clock.
Continuing to prove their worth with another in-house innovation, Breitling have engineered the 44mm cases of each Breitling Professional Endurance Pro watch are engineered from the brand’s famous Breitlight material. The material is regarded as remarkably lightweight measuring at 3.3. times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than steel. It is also nonmagnetic, thermally stable, hypoallergenic, and totally scratch proof. It’s dark and slightly textured finish also provides a look unique to any other watch material and Breitling even describe it as having “a touch that is warmer than metal”.
