A Look at the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Petrol Green Watch

If you felt last year’s Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Date watch needed to be a little smaller for your wrist size, you’re in luck because the Glashutte watchmaker has just released a more unisex 37mm version of the Club Sport Neomatik watch and it now comes with the recently introduced Oyster-style steel bracelet and a beautiful sunray dial finish. To give the display an even more balanced feel, Nomos has chosen to do away with the date function. Whether you were a keen fan of the date aperture or not, it’s a change that you’re going to want to embrace, because this watch, now available in a petrol green or polar blue colour, deserves a prime place in any luxury watch collection.

The new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik watch for 2022 is now sized at a very wearable 37mm making it a rather intriguing unisex watch. It also comes in two dial colours that suggest a shift towards bolder, daring styles compared to the collection’s previous black and blue dials. In this article, we’re going to look at the stunning petrol green variation of the Club Sport Neomatik model.

The sporty design of the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik watch is impactful. Its robust stainless steel case is met with an equally strong stainless steel bracelet designed in the famous Oyster style, which flows effortlessly from the top and base of the watch. Its 37mm case diameter is purposely practical – designed to be manageable and comfortable at the same time. The silhouette of the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik watch is also still incredibly slim. Incorporating a 300-meter water resistance within its solid design, this watch is suitable for wearing every day of the week and to all occasions.

The stunning green shimmering dial of the new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Petrol green model catches the light in a unique way underneath its strong pane of sapphire crystal glass. Designed to be crisp and clear, the dial features cut Arabic numerals that are sharp and clean, as well as a set of straight hands that taper slightly at the tip. Luminescent material has been applied to the Arabic numerals and hands in a quest to guarantee legible time-tracking whether referencing the display in dark conditions or during the night. Similarly, the sapphire glass top of this 37mm Nomos Club watch is designed to reject the light whether under artificial or direct sunlight. As mentioned, the choice to remove the date window is a decision that will either be loved or disliked by Nomos’ huge fan base. What is certain, however, is that removing the date grants more space for the other remaining elements on the dial to shine.

Uncomplicated, just like its dial, is the architecture of the calibre that lies within. The DUW-3001 is a flatter, finer and more elegant movement than any other movement that has come before it. It followed the success of the Nomos Swing System, requiring a total of one and a half million minutes to design, test and perfect. The movement was the first calibre with Neomatik technology and can be recognised for its remarkably slim structure, but also for its beautiful tempered blue balance spring that is put on show through the back of an exhibition caseback.

There’s also the opportunity to enjoy this watch with a closed steel caseback. The Nomos Club Sport Neomatik watch with a closed caseback provides plenty of space for a specially engraved message should one desire. The in-house developed Nomos DUW-3001 movement measures a thickness of just 3.2mm and houses the Swing System, which keeps the time perfect within. Produced in 2014 and lighter than a feather, the Nomos Swing System is often considered a pivotal point in the Glashutte brand’s history. The system of tiny intricate parts was first trailed in the Nomos Metro watch, but has since been integrated into all models that are powered by an in-house movement.

The new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Petrol Green model is robust, simple and practical for daily wear. Smart enough to attend a sophisticated dinner party and fitted with an incredibly accurate movement, the Glashutte-based atelier demonstrates, once again, that an uncomplicated and high-performance watch makes a big difference to any collection

Thanks to Super-LumiNova treated elements on the dial and an adequate amount of space freed up by the absence of a date window – the new Nomos Club Sport Neomatik broadens the brand’s range of sporty wristwatches with these two new invigorating dial colours. What’s more, the small second sub-counter that sits at the 6 o’clock location donates a sense of focus to the main minute and hour hands.
