Breitling Announce New Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown Watches

Marking their third release in collaboration with sustainable apparel brand Outerknown, Breitling have announced two new Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown watches. Available in classic stainless steel or in a limited edition 18 carat rose gold, the new Breitling watches remain inspired by the cool, laid-black lifestyle of the surfing scenes in Southern California and Hawaii and the era of the 1950’s and 60’s when surfers discovered a spiritual connection to the freedom of sandy beaches and finding the perfect wave.
Co-founded by Breitling’s Surfer Squad member Kelly Slater, the Outerknown brand focuses on creating sustainable clothing and materials with an unwavering approach to quality design and a commitment to clean oceans and beaches. Their goal of helping to maintain and protect our environment is shared by Breitling and together, with the introduction of the Outerknown ECONYL yarn NATO strap, they have created several special edition watch collections inspired by the cause. The previous Breitling Outerknown editions included the Superocean Heritage Outerknown in 2018 and the Superocean Outerknown in 2019. Now securing a full set with an Outerknown model in each of their sea-related collection, Breitling have announced two Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown watches, one a special edition and the other a limited edition of 500 pieces.

Boasting an unmissable modern-retro aesthetic, the new Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown watches are presented in 42mm stainless steel cases with a concave bidirectional rotating bezel and a ultrahard scratch and shock-resistant black ceramic bezel ring. The standard special edition variant features a bezel in stainless steel while the limited edition model showcases a breathtaking bidirectional rotating bezel made of 18 carat rose gold. Both designs also feature a 100 metre water resistant rating, convex sapphire crystal glass with double anti-reflective treatment, a solid screwed case back and a non-screw-locked crown.
Drawing inspiration from the original 1957 Superocean, the new Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown watches boast large arrow-shaped hands and oversized indices set onto a stunning bronze-coloured dial. The Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown Limited Edition stands proud with rose gold coloured markers and hands while the special edition stainless steel variant keeps things classic with steel markers coated in glow in the dark Superluminova. Powering the hours, minutes and seconds function is the Breitling 10 self-winding calibre, a Swiss made movement with a 42 hour power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour and 25 jewels. The COSC-certified Breitling movement is kept hidden behind a closed, screw down case back engraved with the Outerknown logo.
As expected, both Breitling Superocean Heritage '57 Outerknown watches are handsomely delivered with a rich brown ECONYL yarn NATO strap, a material soured from repurposed nylon waste, some of which is recovered from discarded or lost fishing nets. The straps are not only recycled but are also completely recyclable.
