The exquisite diamond pattern featured on the dial beautifully reflects the detail of Frankfurt’s popular cider glasses, recognised also as Gerippte; a traditional glass with a rhombus cut, which refracts light and improves grip. The three-dimensional lozenge pattern of the glass, which provides a beautiful interplay of light and shade is captured on the fine rhodium-coated relief dial. The artistry of the glass is a source of inspiration for those who inhabit Frankfurt with the skyscraper, Westhafen Tower earning the nickname ‘Das Gerippte.’
The use of different surface techniques, changing from polished to matt silk brings the vibrant, three-dimensional feel of the glass to the dial. A technique known as electroforming creates this effect with great precision and accuracy. Finally, coated with rhodium – a precious metal similar to platinum – brings a graceful silver-white shine to the watch face.
