Alpina Horological Smartwatch Watch Review

American Alpinist, Melissa Arnot bravely plans to secure the title of the first American woman to summit Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen. Wow!!!

Of course as an Alpina Watches Ambassadress, the 31 year old has assured us that she will track her amazing journey with the Alpina Horological Smartwatch secured comfortably to her wrist. Melissa who currently holds the Western women’s record for Everest summits will use the South Col route in late May 2015. Her trusted companion - the Alpina Horological Smartwatch - will successfully log her expedition monitoring steps, distance, calories and sleep.

Mount Everest reaches 8.848m (29.029ft) making the mountain the highest in the world. It is advised to climb with supplementary oxygen due to the oxygen levels at that altitude are only 33% of the oxygen at sea level. With this fact in mind, Melissa would have undergone expert training to enable her to climb without oxygen. The expedition will take considerably more time, which Melissa is obviously aware of yet does not deter her from carrying out the remarkable journey. These facts certainly put the bravery and determination of the Alpinist into perspective.

Meliss Arnot explains: “This challenge is a truly personal one that will allow me to push my body and test my own limits. It is the most difficult thing I have attempted in my climbing career thus far and the idea that the limits of possibility are something I can challenge is incredibly inspiring to me. I’m fascinated how my body will react to this challenge and the Alpina Horological Smartwatch will track that performance and provide a valuable measurement.”

To ensure safety Melissa will be joined with her climbing partner Ben Jones, expedition photographer, Jon Mancuso, Ang Nuru Sherpa who will all climb with the aid of oxygen. To allow for their bodies to become used to the extreme conditions the team will make 3-4 acclimatisation climbs and when the weather and bodies are ready they will begin the incredible journey with the Alpina Horological Smartwatch fastened to her wrist, which is expertly designed to also withstand the conditions at Mount Everest.
