about Glycine
The production of Glycine watches started in Switzerland in 1914 and has been ongoing ever since.
The first collection of Glycine chronometer watches came into existence in 1934. In 1952, Glycine presented its vacuum chronometers, which were both water and shock-resistant.
The Airman collection, which is still available for purchase today, was first presented in 1953. These watches were especially designed for the needs of pilots.
Since Switzerland was slow in introducing quartz movement, its watch industry suffered. The same applied to Glycine, which however managed to recover from the crisis.
Glycine is one of the watch companies to pioneer world time measurements. Apart from Airman, it offers a number of other successful collections. Altus is the dress watch line, Combat watches were designed for the needs of adventurers and extreme sport lovers, while Rettangolo consists entirely of watches having a rectangular dial.
