The new Garmin tactix® 8 is a smartwatch that beautifully combines qualities of superior durability and cutting-edge technology. If you’re new to smartwatches and new to Garmin, you may as well throw yourself straight into a watch like the tactix® 8, since it shows off some of the company’s most impressive qualities including its ultra bright and legible AMOLED display (non-solar-powered versions), solar-powered capability (in the 51mm models), tactical features for those fulfilling military requirements on the daily, and an extended battery life. Some of its key features include a lightweight titanium bezel, 40m water resistance, and a sapphire lens. So, without further ado, let’s jump right in…

Garmin tactix® 8: The Functions

Does the idea of real-time weather updates and being able to plan your route to the nth degree appeal to you? If it does, you need to take a look at the tactix® 8 smartwatch by Garmin. It comes with multi-band GNSS support for advanced GPS navigation and topographic maps that let you access your location even when offline and in areas with limited or no cellular service. In addition to that, you get a whole host of tactical features, including Stealth Mode, which disables all your wireless connections, enabling you to go off grid. Then there’s the Kill Switch, which erases all your latest sensitive data and your latest moves. However, if it’s the fitness and health-related features you’re interested in, then the tactix® 8 has you covered for that too. You can enjoy SP02 monitoring, training metrics, heart rate monitoring, and sleep analysis, all while on the go.

Should you get in a spot of trouble while venturing off the beaten track, the tactix® 8 comes with safety-tracking features, too. That way, you’re never too far away from help when needed. The smartwatch can send your emergency contacts your current location via your smartphone, should you need it. At the same time, a built-in multi-coloured flashlight provides a steady beam of light, enabling you to switch from white to green depending on what you need, while giving you better visibility of the great outdoors at night.  On top of all this, the Garmin tactix® 8 features things like Garmin Pay and an impressive amount of space for storing and playing all your favourite tunes while you’re on the go.

Garmin tactix® 8; The Exterior

The Garmin tactix® 8 makes a bold statement with its titanium bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire lens. The case is made from fibre-reinforced polymer and promises superior shock and thermal resistance thanks to being tested to US military standards. There are two different sizes to choose from as well: a smaller 47mm size offered with an AMOLED display and a 51mm size offered in a solar-powered version and an AMOLED version. Each one of the new versions comes in a black colour scheme for a modern, high-tech but simple look. Of course, being equipped with a myriad of tactical features, the purpose of the tactix® 8 is to stay as discreet on the wrist as possible, keeping in line with its rugged exterior.

Being a Garmin watch, the tactix® 8 was bound to have an impressive battery power. There’s a 16-day battery power to enjoy in the 47mm model and a 29-day battery power in the 51mm model. However, the latter’s solar-powered version is most impressive all, promising 48 days (and 30 days without solar-charging).

The new Garmin tactix® 8 watches are feature-rich and ready to go. Offering a premium blend of tactical features, build quality and battery life, this military grade smartwatch can push you to your limits and beyond. Want to enquire about the watch now?
