Nomos Glashütte AutoBahn Neomatik 41 Date Watch Review
Thursday - 19 April 2018
Racing ahead of the pack in style is the Nomos Glashutte Autobahn Neomatik 41 with its distinctive, sophisticated design. The sporty trio brings clear forms, steep curves and perfect surfaces to create a sense of motion on the wrist via their expert German engineering and watchmaking from Glashutte. True to Nomos’ character, the new line up excels with a clear, reliable design that also has depth and complexity integrated into each aspect.
The Autobahn Neomatik 41 stands out with its beautiful bold curves and unique depths that allows for time to be read on different levels – a dial that presents new dimensions. Situated at 6 o’clock is the three-lane date window allowing for wearers to be kept up to speed with the past, present and future with yesterdays, todays and tomorrows dates. With its generous proportions that compliments the dial design, the date display showcases Glashuttes outstanding mechanics.
Demanding attention on the wrist, the elegant, well thought out dial is framed in a robust case that allows for a 100-metre water resistance. A practical yet eye catching, stylish design made for the sporty types. In restricted lighting, the Autobahn shines ensuring that the time can be easily read in the dark also.
Housing the DUW 6101 created by renowned designer, Werner Aisslinger, the Autobahn is highly precise and accurate. Large yet slender, the automatic caliber measures only 3.6 mm in height. The challenge was for the oversized date display to not disrupt the slim nature of the movement with its careful construction. Even though the date aperture has a prominent role on the watch face the sophisticated, thin caliber is unaffected.
Overall, the Autobahn is distinctively bold with a sophisticated edge making a huge impact in Baselworld this season. As Nomos continue to evolve yet celebrate their strong signature style, the result is truly impressive.
