Oris Watch Air Racing Silver Lake Watch Review
Tuesday - 18 September 2012
Ahead of the Reno Air Races 2012, the Swiss Air Racing Team collaborated with RUAG Aviation, a military and civil aviation company, to enhance and upgrade the aerodynamics of the 'Scarlet Screamer' - the plane flown by Oris ambassador Don Vito Wypraechtiger. "Together with the new Swiss aviation partners, our aim is to improve the hardware and aerodynamics in order to be top of the league by 2013," Oris says.
The Oris Air Racing Silver Lake edition is inspired by the design and technical features of the bespoke Scarlet Screamer plane.
The watch originates from the Oris BC3 collection, with a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm and Oris 735 automatic calibre movement. The Air Racing Silver Lake has a day indicator at 9 o'clock that can be set to show either weekdays, or seven sketches of the race plane. The number '50' is marked in yellow and red at 10 o'clock, in reference to the plane's aesthetics and start number. The case back is specially engraved with the Oris Air Racing logo and limited number.
The Reno National Championship Air Races and Air Show was held in Nevada, USA, from 12th-16th September 2012. Don Vito Wypraechtiger finished third with the Scarlet Screamer.
