Bremont Hawking Watches
Bremont celebrates its 10th limited edition timepiece with a design that commemorates a man who dedicated his entire life to studying gravitational forces, the universe and time. Legendary scientist, Professor Stephen Hawking enhanced mankind’s understanding of black holes with his “Thermal Radiation” theory and produced the co-written 1979 seminal research paper “The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of Gravity”. The limited edition number of each Bremont Hawking watch is stamped upon an original piece of paper taken from this historical artefact. The 88 rose gold, 88 white gold and 388 stainless steel iterations are limited to these numbers in reference to Hawking’s 1988 science book, “Brief History of Time”. Fragments of an antique desk owned by Hawking are inlaid into the back of each watch, together with a piece of meteorite symbolising the cosmos. In addition to this, a special hand-finished caseback depicts the star formations as they were seen in the night sky above Oxford on the night of Hawking’s birth on 8th January 1942. The ladies Bremont Hawking watches boast an entire dial crafted from meteorite, scintillating diamond dot indexes and a transparent caseback that offers a glimpse of a hand-swirled ”black hole”-inspired automatic rotor. Of course, the Bremont Hawking collection resonates with Nick & Giles on a personal level too. Their father attended St Albans School with Hawking. The Bremont Hawking limited edition collection entombs a sliver of history within its design, offering modern collectors a British-made timepiece imbued with masterful finishes and a very poignant message.
