Up Close with the new Baume et Mercier Classima Men's 2023 Watches
Tuesday - 16 May 2023
Baume et Mercier has released two new 42mm automatic Classima watches and two new 42mm quartz-powered Classima watches for men. Each one distils the essence of the brand’s popular collection with a style that is unmistakably classic, elegant and simple.
Baume et Mercier, although one of the lesser-known luxury watch brands, puts a huge focus on developing wristwatches with high-quality materials and reliable movements. The brand simply doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Baume et Mercier is a relatively old watchmaker that uses the traditions and techniques of its past to continue moving forwards with its creative manufacture. Its modern wristwatches based on the brand’s history are a reflection of unmatchable know-how. Having 180 years under your belt is something to be proud of as a luxury watch band and that’s one reason why enthusiasts return to the company time and time again. The brand’s prestigious catalogue offers plenty of choice with popular models like the Riviera and Classima. On that note, the brand has released four new models to the Classima line.
“Accept only perfection…”
Right from the initial founding of the company, the Baume brothers developed a motto that is still adhered to today “Accept only perfection”. Anyone investing in a Baume et Mercier watch can be reassured in their purchase that each model has been built to a very high standard. A wealth of styles can be chosen from within Baume et Mercier’s extensive collection. From diamond-adorned dress watches to classic timepieces for the office - the range promises a design for every personality and every need.
The class of the Classima
Classima watches from Baume et Mercier imbue a simple and timeless design. It is one of the brand’s most extensive and diverse collection of offerings with colours, styles and materials that match any occasion. They also boast a discreet elegance, doubling up as office companions and timepieces for adding to evening attire for a touch of class. Many watches feature traditional Roman numerals at the cardinal points of the hour track, whilst others feature simple and understated Arabic numerals. Leaf-shaped hands sit against dials in a sunray or guilloche finish. Classima watches for women look incredibly feminine with their mother-of-pearl displays, whereas chronograph complications bring a touch of sportiness to the collection. There are other complications available within the Classima collection too like moon phase displays that show the exact positioning of the moon exactly how it is seen in the sky each night.
The new Baume et Mercier Classima watches for men
The four new Classima watches for men by Baume et Mercier all measure a size of 42mm. They’re also crafted from stainless steel and topped with a piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal to protect the dial from any damage caused daily The new variations come in a peacock blue with silver-coloured hands, a silver dial with blued hands, a violet dial with silver hands, and a silver dial with a deep green flange. They all feature Arabic numerals located at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, with centrally mounted leaf-shaped hour and minute hands that parade the dial with an air of sophistication. Like all Classima time-only watches, the new dials are incredibly simple to follow the time on and feature elongated stick hour markers in between the Arabic numerals. Smaller dashes make up the minute track, whilst the silver and blue dial pairs with the peacock blue dial in providing numerals for the five-minute increments. These versions are also three-handed models and are powered by an automatic movement as opposed to the two-handed silver and violet versions, which are quartz powered. A beautiful chevron dial adorns the dial of all four new Classima watches from Baume et Mercier. This textured surface pairs well with the saddle-stitched fabric straps that have been fitted to the lugs of each design.
As mentioned, two of the four new models from the Baume et Mercier Classima range are powered by automatic movements. These are the peacock blue version with the silver-coloured hands and the silver-toned version with the blued hands. Both the peacock blue sun satin and silver sun satin dials are framed by a perfectly round stainless steel case that holds a Swiss-made automatic movement inside. The engine provides a power reserve of 42 hours and beats with a precision of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The round curvaceous case of both models is integrated with a water resistance of 30 meters, as is the violet sun satin dial and the silver sun satin dial with the green flange. The back of the case of all four versions is solid stainless steel and has been left as a spacious opportunity to engrave a personal message upon should one wish to.
To finish, the peacock blue automatic Classica watch reference M0A10708 is fitted on a light grey saddle stitched fabric strap – the same strap that fits the silver quartz Classima watch reference M0A10705. The silver dial with blue numerals and hands (model reference M0A10707), however, is fitted on a blue fabric strap, whereas the silver and green Classima quartz watch reference M0A10705 is executed on a deep green fabric strap. An additional leather strap comes with the purchase of any of these four new Classima watches for 2023, enabling you to transform the look of the watch to something a little dressier at the weekend should you wish.
