Not so long ago, Arnold & Son released the 41.5mm Platinum Perpetual Moon watch. It featured the moon set against a stunning lacquered “Stellar Rays” finish with irregular engraved finishes that created a sense of depth and a layered effect, as if falling in between the galaxies. Its case had received a redesign, with plunging bars for the lugs and bevelled ends, not to mention a slightly smaller diameter from an original 42mm width. Now it’s time to grow the Perpetual Moon collection further with this lady’s 38mm Mintnight timepiece, which shifts its perspective, presenting a view from Earth with a mix of exquisite materials including mother of pearl, diamonds, and scintillating ruthenium crystals.
The new Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Mintnight watch playfully teases with its turquoise, mint green and teal colours combined beautifully with sky blue tones. Layers of mother of pearl overlap in waves throughout the middle section of the dial, giving way to a bed of crystal in the foreground. These match the ruthenium crystals of the moon’s surface. Diamonds bring this entire design together, featuring in the surface of the bezel, the central hands and the horns to complete a poetic and poignant spin on the Perpetual Moon watch design.
The new Perpetual Moon 38 Mintnight watch measures a thickness of 10.44mm on the wrist and has been crafted from 18ct white gold. A total of 80 round brilliant cut diamonds have been set into the surface of the crown, the lugs and the bezel, each one enticing the light to play upon its many faceted sides. In addition to this, the white gold buckle that attaches a classic strap to the wrist has been set with a further 22 diamonds. Set further into the dial, passed the waves of blue and iridescent mother of pearl, is a maze of turquoise, blue and mint green colours that create hills reaching into the horizon. Hand-painted stars adorn this surface, accompanied by the large moon made from ruthenium crystals. Inside the case of the new Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 is a specially developed Calibre made by the manufacturer. The Calibre A&S1612 has been specially designed for the small proportions of this lady’s wristwatch and is a manually winding mechanism that produces a total of 90 hours of power reserve. Arnold & Son has also ensured that the moonphase mechanism will stay accurate for 122 years. The movement features Cotes de Geneve stripes, polished and chamfered bridges, circular satin-finished wheels, and blued and chamfered screws with polished heads.
To compliment this unique blend of ruthenium crystals, tinted and graduated shades of green and blue, mother of pearl, and marquise-cut diamonds - the new Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Mintnight watch is completed on a teal blue-coloured alligator leather strap, lined with a hand-stitched raspberry lining.
