Meet the new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton Watches

Parmigiani Fleurier extends on its sporty yet luxurious Tonda PF range with two skeletonised models crafted from stainless steel and 18ct rose gold – each one parading a 22k gold skeletonised rotor, graphite bridges and an open-worked barrel among many other exquisite finishes.
When the first Tonda PF watch was released last year, it marked a quarter of a century of fine Haute Horlogerie by one of the world’s most revered watchmaking companies – Parmigiani Fleurier. Michel Parmigiani was an accomplished watchmaker who decided to launch his own brand in 1996 and since then has never looked back. Parmigiani Fleurier has taken a unique approach to skeletonising its watches and conveys this in the Tonda PF collection. Before that, the company had created some skeletonised watches belonging to its Tonda 1950 collection, yet its newer versions certainly have an identity of their own. To mark the 2022 Tonda PF releases, Parmigiani Fleurier has released an 18ct rose gold version and a stainless steel model. The two new timepieces are both luxurious and artistic all rolled into one.
Artistic skeletonisation
Whereas some manufacturers specialise in fine skeletonisation, Parmigiana Fleurier has chosen to keep the movement that powers the watch restrained and slightly concealed, with both a view of the movement from the front and the back of the watch albeit through artistic design. Decorative elements peek through the dial side, yet timekeeping is kept simple and straightforward. The new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton watches measure a 40mm case diameter combined with a slim silhouette measuring a depth of just 8.5mm. Both cases are executed in a mix of polished and satin finishes that flow into an integrated bracelet that keeps the sports watch essence of the Tonda PF watch collection alive. A polished and knurled bezel crafted from either 18ct rose gold or platinum (for the steel version) creates a chunky frame around the skeletonised dial of both these new Tonda PF watches, both of which are integrated with screw-down crowns and a water resistance of 100 meters. The Calibre PF777 put on display
The new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton watches in rose gold and stainless steel are both powered by the automatic calibre PF777. The self-winding movement provides a power reserve of 60 hours and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Through the back of the watch fitted with a sapphire exhibition caseback, a 22k gold rotor can be admired. The movement comprises a total of 187 individually assembled components – each of which works harmoniously together. The steady contracting and relaxing of the mainspring driving the balance can be seen through an open-worked barrel, whilst through the dial side, graphite-coloured bridges decorated with sandblasted and satin finishes along with beautiful hand-chamfered edges can be observed. To enhance the streamlined feel of the case and bracelet, the compositions that conceal and shield the movement in places are incredibly pleasing to the eye too. Above the skeletonised movement in both models, stunning rose gold hands that are delta-shaped and also skeletonised are hand-applied, adding a refined and opulent touch to each watch. The peripheral chapter of the dial is where the hour markers reside, represented in small rectangular structures and also finished in the same rose gold hue.
Integrated bracelets complete the models in respective 18ct rose gold and stainless steel material, matching the cases of the two new Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Skeleton watches perfectly. The central links of the bracelets are executed in a satin-brushed finish, whilst the outer links are polished.
