Frederique Constant Launches Classics Index Automatic Watches
Wednesday - 18 May 2022
Frederique Constant is known worldwide for its direct involvement in pretty much every step of the watchmaking process and that goes for the timepieces within the brand’s Classics Index range. The sub-collection is a branch from the Classics tree – a family of elegant dress watches suited to span a broad enough scope to cover everything from formal wear, to weekend attire, to work, business, and office-related tasks, even board meetings, parties and a sophisticated dinner with friends. Every wristwatch from the Classics watch range by Frederique Constant boasts cleverly considered proportions, paired with a fine choice of materials to bring about a strong sense of elegance on the wrist. The new Frederique Constant Classics Index Automatic watches for 2022 are no exception to the rule.
Frederique Constant Classic Index watches are perfect for every kind of occasion because they offer incredible versatility. Two new watches, in particular, to join the sub-category for 2022 are the Classics Index Automatic in a rose gold colour and the Classics Index Automatic stainless steel version. The Classics watch itself has been proving itself a huge hit since it launched back in 2016 in Baselworld. Remaining true to the company’s steadfast approach to authentic watchmaking, the prices within this range are always kept as reasonable as possible and in many cases, no parts are outsourced for the production of its in-house movements. Frederique Constant certainly takes the “Swiss Made” label seriously. These new Classics Index Automatic watches, however, keep costs as low as possible with a third party movement inside their rounded 40mm cases.
The new Frederique Constant Classics Index watches for 2022 add another layer of luxury to the company’s sub-collection and follow along the same lines of those models that have gone before them. Having more than 30 in-house developed movements to its name and with a portfolio of resolutely elegant watches that put their own stamp on timekeeping - there are very few companies that can compete within this sector of the luxury watch market like Frederique Constant. Over the years since its conception, the Classics watch range has varied from the traditional Roman numerals to applied hour markers and spacious dials, before once again returning to the Roman numeral display (as seen in these two new Classics Index Automatic watches). On the dial of these watches, not only does the Frederique Constant logo give away the identity of the watch, but so do many other emblematic features. A stunning Clous de Paris dial decoration elevates the hands and the brand logo on the dial, creating an almost guilloche-like effect and a three-dimensional plate from which essential time can be read. Whilst the second hand is thin and straight, the central hour and minute hands are executed in the familiar Breguet style, leaving the chapter ring finished in a brushed effect for further detail.
These most recent time and date watches to join the Classics Index watch collection are available in three different versions. Two of these have cases crafted from stainless steel – one with a silver dial and black-coloured Roman numeral hour markers and one with a steel case and a khaki-coloured dial with contrasting white Roman numerals. The rose gold version features a silver dial and black Roman numerals. The rose gold version is completed on a brown leather strap, whilst the steel and silver dial version and the steel and khaki version secure to the wrist with classic black leather bands. The new Classics Index watches also sit on the wrist at a reasonable height of 10.3mm, making them ideal companions for wearing in the office and with formal attire.
Inside the three new Frederique Constant Classics Indexes watches is a Sellita movement. The SW-200 has been modified to create the FC-303, which offers the standard central hours, minutes and seconds, along with a date aperture that can be found at 3 o’clock on each dial. The automatic movement performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a useful power reserve of 38 hours once fully wound. To complete the design of the new Frederique Constant Classics Index watch, each model is water-resistant to 50 meters and the two-part case constructions are sealed on top with a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective lens made from sapphire crystal glass.
