Introducing the New TAG Heuer Formula 1 Orange Watch

To serve as the season opener to the 2021 F1 Grand Prix season in Bahrain, TAG Heuer launched the vivid asphalt orange dial version of its four new Formula 1 watch releases. Designed to enchant and captivate, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch collection has always been aimed at both those in the driving seat and those stood at the side-line. The new Orange TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch revives and reinvents the series once again with a refreshing, sporty and uplifting colour that is sure to get the pulses racing. You may have seen a few shots of the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Orange watch, but have you had an up-close-and-personal glance at its innovative features? Let’s take a nosey…

The new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Orange watch is simply an extension to the Swiss brand’s already-popular line of motorsport racing-inspired timepieces. These instruments are tailored to the needs of both the professional and the enthusiast with a compact chronograph or three-handed dial design that earmarks the original models created by the brand back in 1986. In pursuit of success, the first TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch was strapped to the wrist of Swiss racing driver, Jo Siffert, cementing the ties made between the watchmaker and the Formula 1 industry. The brand logo was emblazoned onto the racing driver’s car and racing suit, catching the eye of many other professional racing drivers of the F1 circuits who went on to sport a TAG Heuer watch of the Formula 1 kind on their wrists.

In addition to three chronograph watches – two anthracite and yellow dial versions (one on a stainless steel bracelet and one on a black nylon strap) and an anthracite and orange dial on a steel bracelet option, TAG Heuer has released this vivid, adrenaline-pumped orange filled three-handed model with a date function. The orange asphalt dial is housed within a 43mm stainless steel case and powered by an ultra-reliable Swiss-made quartz movement. The model supported the Red Bull Racing Formula One team in the 2021 Bahrain championships and is also set to be an instantly recognisable design associated with the brand’s other partnerships like the Monaco Grand Prix and the Automobile Club de Monaco.

The case:

As mentioned, the new orange-coloured TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch measures a 43mm diameter and has been crafted from stainless steel in a mix of fine-brushed and polished effects. The black fine-brushed ceramic bezel with a 60-minute scale is unidirectional and the zero point at the top of the bezel is represented in orange for quickly referencing under pressure. The case of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Orange watch also features a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock. To protect the crown from impact upon knocking the watch, the case also features a crown protecting guard which slightly widens the feel of the watch on the wrist from lug to lug. The case is marked with a water-resistant rating of 200 meters.

The dial:

Tangerine dials are certainly the way forward for motorsport racing watches like the TAG Heuer Formula 1 watch collection. Somehow its block colour adds so much depth to the timepiece, enhanced all the more, of course, by the brand’s trusty white stick markers bordered in black, with the 12 and 6 o’clock locations represented in visible Arabic numerals. Matching the style of the hour markers are the central hour and minute hands, which, like the stick markers, have also been treated with a generous helping of Super-LumiNova material. The black central second hand has plenty of definition against the watch’s rich orange backdrop and the date takes up residence in its usual spot at 3 o’clock, dressed against a white wheel for enhancing readability. The black flange around the edge of the dial features both 60 seconds and minutes. All elements on the dial, including the TAG Heuer lettering and logo are granted superior protection from dust, denting, scratching, moisture, heat and light damage thanks to a thick flat piece of anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass.

The movement and strap

The audacious, sporty TAG Heuer Formula 1 Orange watch is powered by a reliable Swiss-made quartz movement that sits inside the watch’s 200-meter water-resistant case. Its performance is concealed behind a brushed steel screw-down caseback engraved with the TAG Heuer log and the chequered Formula 1 decoration. The quartz movement governs the central hour, minute and second hands along with a date function. The watch wraps comfortably around the wrist with a black nylon strap adorned with a mix of matching tangerine orange and grey-coloured stitching, offering a casual, urban look on the wrist. The strap firmly encloses against the wrist with a traditional-looking stainless steel pin buckle.
