Introducing the Meistersinger Unomat Watch Collection

The toughest Meistersinger watch to date? That’s what the German watch manufacturer is calling their newest arrival, the Unomat. While still maintaining the sophisticated single-hand aesthetic of its predecessors, the new Meistersinger Unomat watch collection delivers a notable 300 metre water resistance rating and a case anti-magnetic up to 24,000 A/m for the ultimate durable and sporty timepiece for the everyday.

2021 has been a huge year for Meistersinger. As they celebrate their 20th anniversary, they have unveiled a truly remarkable selection of new watches including the Meistersinger Astroscope Limited Edition which uniquely displays the days of the week through celestial bodies in our solar system and the Stratoscope Moon Phase watch with one of the world’s largest moonphase apertures at its centre. We’ve also seen their iconic Perigraph model transformed by a new “Mellow Yellow” colourway. The Münster-based brand continuesto make 2021 their year with their latest release, the Meistersinger Unomat which they describe as being a faithful companion for all your adventurous excursions.

At first glance, the Meistersinger Unomat watch collection appears to follow in the footsteps of the brand’s familiar No.3 design. The accustomed double digital Arabic numerals and needle-shaped hand emphasises the need to live in the moment telling the time lazily with each single marker marking a five minute interval. For the new Unomat, however, the central hand is widened and adorned with a generous helping of Superluminova differing in colour dependant on the dial you choose. The first Meistersinger Unomat is available on a grained matte-black dial and promises super easy legibility with tropical patina lume while the second reference opts for a blue sunburst dial and lovely mint-green Superluminova.

Another significant change for the Meistersinger Unomat watch is its case. It’s 43 millimetre diameter, stainless steel construction, slim bezel and tapering lugs is nothing new but its statement screw down crown and fluid crown guard are a fresh addition for the brand. It is elements like this that give the Unomat its durable reputation helping in its 300 metre water resistant rating. The case back also supports the water resistance also being screw down and then engraved with the Meistersinger logo.

Inside the case is a layer of soft iron which works alongside the iron dial to create an anti-magnetic enclosure for the automatic winding movement housed within. Within the soft iron, the Sellita SW 400 automatic movement can endure magnetic fields of up to 24,000 A/m which in turn benefits the movement’s accuracy and the overall performance of the Meistersinger Unomat. The SW 400 calibre also affords a power reserve of 38 hours, 26 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Completing both the black and blue-dialled variants of the Meistersinger Unomat is a refined five-link bracelet with a handsome mix of polished and brushed links. We’ve never seen a Meistersinger watch with a bracelet like this. When you look at their other collections, their single-handed designs are often paired leather or textile bands and sometimes Milanese-style bracelets. The chunky five-link bracelets of the Meistersinger Unomat watches reiterate their robust and sporty objective but, with that said, those preferable to a soft strap would have no problem swapping it out for another.
