Introducing the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38

A sporty 300M water-resistant women’s Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 watch named “The White Amazon”, adorned in lavish diamonds.
There is no escaping the fact that the new lady’s Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 watch from Maurice Lacroix will prove a huge commercial success. Why? Because of a couple of things in particular. The Ventura – offspring to the original Aikon watch collection that launched in 2016 – is a sportier, more rugged and robust-feeling watch, appealing to those in search of a tool for underwater exploration. Its aquatic tendencies are owed to an impressive water mark, an easy-to-handle unidirectional rotating bezel, luminous plots on the dial and a reliable automatic movement that beats within. All these characteristics, of course, remain desirable within dive watch collecting circles, but seldom seen on the market is a diver’s watch with an affordable price tag. Considering Maurice Lacroix’s humble beginnings and its genuine approach to authentic watchmaking, you can believe that the brand offers just that – a quality diving watch with a reasonable price tag. Once Maurice Lacroix got the design of the Aikon just right – they could play about with new iterations – one of them being the new Aikon Ventura 38 model for women. A bold women’s dive watch with an unapologetically sporty attitude.
The Aikon first started with a quartz movement but within two years had earned the success it deserved and began featuring an automatic movement along with a choice of different materials and dial colours. By the time the Ventura was released, the popular Aikon carried the torch for the brand’s flagship sports watch collection, with its masculine tonneau-shaped case and the distinct 6 arms adorned to the surface of its unidirectional rotating bezel. The new Aikon Ventura 38 watch is referred to by the brand as “The White Amazon” and appeals to women with a “modern” design language, professing a water-ready and wearer-comfort case. Enhancing a feminine essence is a selection of meticulously placed round brilliant-cut diamonds around the hour track, but more about that in a second.
Case:
The case of the new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 – as its name suggests – features a 38mm case diameter and is constructed from robust, corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The model is primed for urban adventures and boasts a 300-meter water resistance making it ideal for snorkelling, water sports, diving, swimming and sailing. The white women’s Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura is a reinterpretation of the men’s 43mm version that was launched back in 2019. Its case is topped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a white ceramic insert. The 6 arms around the bezel are a hallmark of the Aikon series and, in this case, mark out the 10-minute increments around the 60-minute diver’s scale. The bezel only rotates in a counter-clockwise direction, ensuring that dive time is never extended whilst underwater. By simply aligning the dive marker shown at the 12 o’clock position with the minute hand, elapsed timed underwater can be tracked easily and efficiently. The back of the case is screwed in, as is the crown at 3 o’clock, shielded by a robust crown protecting guard. Polished and brushed effects on the case and bezel reinforce a sporty aesthetic, whilst the integrated lugs complete the model’s tonneau-shaped case.
Dial:
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 watch has a white lacquered dial with chunky central hour and minute hands. The surface of these hands has been treated with a layer of Super-LumiNova to grant easy access to the time in dark, light-limiting conditions. The 12, 6 and 9 o’clock locations on the dial are the luminous baton type, whereas the remaining locations are represented by scintillating round brilliant-cut diamonds. The stones playfully catch the light underneath a sapphire crystal glass front, doubling up as an elegant statement piece for wearing alongside evening attire. Both sides of the glass have also been treated with anti-reflective properties to rid the dial of any undesirable glare whilst referencing the time. Other detailing on the dial includes the legible date window at 3 o’clock and the Maurice Lacroix lettering at 12 o’clock, accompanied by the brand logo.
Movement:
The lady’s Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 watch is powered by the ML115 movement. Modified from the Sellita SW200-1 movement, this self-winding engine performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 38-hour power reserve for those occasions off the wrist. The 300-meter water-resistant steel casing of the watch provides ample protection around the intricate parts of the movement, concealing its arrangement behind a screw-down caseback.
Strap:
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Ventura 38 watch is completed on a robust and sporty-looking 5-row stainless steel bracelet with a Maurice Lacroix-engraved butterfly clasp. The bracelet is integrated with the EasyChange system, which offers a quick and seamless strap changeover to the additional white rubber strap supplied with the purchase.
