Hands-on with the 2022 Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day Date Watches

Maurice Lacroix is giving the Pontos Day Date watch a makeover with a stylish blue dial with the release of two new models – one with a blue nylon strap and another fitted on a stainless steel bracelet.
About the Pontos watch collection
Since it debuted in the year 2000, the Pontos watch by Maurice Lacroix has remained a classic model with a distinctive contemporary touch. Over its successful two decades, the collection has branched into Day Date models, Chronograph Monopusher watches and the sporty-chic Pontos Chronograph watch. In 2017, the Pontos Day Date watch received an update and came in a refreshing range of dial colours as well as a bronze case. Adding the day date complication to the Pontos series certainly gave it a different personality – one that has been utilised in the office and enjoyed as a stylish addition to smart or formal attire thanks to its more technical look. Now it’s time for a couple more Pontos Day Date watches to join the family. These models have been released as part of the Geneva Watch Days 2022 event and are joined by two chronographs and a limited edition Pontos Day Date model crafted from black DLC-coated stainless steel.
Whilst the Maurice Lacroix Pontos watch collection has always been the place to go when looking for a traditional timepiece, the series does offer a range of complications, dial colours and strap options to choose from. The two new Pontos Day Date watches are showcased in an eye-catching blue colour and come fitted on a sophisticated stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp or a more casual blue nylon strap with a steel butterfly buckle.
The new Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day Date watches
Offering all the features that have defined the Pontos watch collection for so long, these two new timepieces by Maurice Lacroix are both crafted from stainless steel and measure a 41mm diameter. They both sit at a height of 11mm, making them a practical option for pairing with office attire. In addition to this, the cases are 100-meter water resistant and feature the familiar stepped lugs. The sweeping crown guards gently echo the rounded shape of the case melding effortlessly to the side of the watch. The back of the case is fitted with a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback for viewing the models’ beating heart in motion, complete with its elegant Cotes de Geneve decoration and circular graining.
The dial of the two new Pontos Day Date watches by Maurice Lacroix are executed in a rich blue colour with a sunray effect that effortlessly catches the light to create a silk-like shimmering effect. The central hour and minute hands gently taper as they venture out towards an inner minute scale in silver and an hour track represented by stick markers. In addition to this, the display also features a date window at 6 o’clock, balanced by the Maurice Lacroix lettering and an arc-shaped aperture that displays the days of the week.
Powering the hands around the rich blue dial of this new Pontos Day Date design is the Automatic ML143 Calibre, which provides a 38-hour power reserve. It performs at a rate of 28, 800 vibrations per hour and offers hours, minutes, seconds, day and date functions. It is, of course, the spirit of the Pontos watch collection that is kept alive with new releases like these two new Pontos Day Date watches for 2022. The models are defined by their clean lines and dressy appeal without being too formal.
