Hamilton Reveals Black & Gold Capsule Watch Collection
Monday - 14 November 2022
Hamilton is often referred to as the movie brand. This is because since its birth, its functional tool watches, many with military aspirations, have featured on the wrists of Hollywood stars and made their debut on the silver screen. Perhaps the black and gold design of Hamilton's newest releases is the most showbiz yet? Within the collection, there are two Jazzmasters, two Ventura watches and one Pan Europ watch. When Hamilton created the Behind the Camera Awards, it released the 2019 Jazzmaster Regulator Cinema to accompany it. This marked 86 years in film for Hamilton and offered itself up as a reasonably priced movie watch. Still, the company continues to innovate, with its exemplary designs, creating new timepieces in various styles, sizes and colours. Let’s take a look at Hamilton’s recently released black and gold capsule watch collection.
The new Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono black and gold watch
First up is the Jazzmaster Auto Chrono. Coated in a stealthy black PVD finish, the steel case of this new black and gold Hamilton watch is equipped with 100-meter water resistance and features a 42mm diameter. Its teardrop-shaped push pieces at the side of the case are complimented by a matching coloured rubber bund strap, which extends to prevent the lugs from becoming knocked or scratched. The Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono watch also features a polished bezel, which contrasts against the matte finish on the lugs. Whilst a practical small second sub-dial sits at 9 o’clock on the dial of this new Hamilton chronograph, the stopwatch counters are located vertically at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock, offering 30-minute and 12-hour functions respectively. The snailed interior of these counters is accentuated by gold trims around each dial and upon the surface of the stick markers and main hands. These hands are treated to a touch of luminescent material to assist with timekeeping in dark conditions. Powered by the H-21 movement, based on an ETA Calibre, the new Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono black and gold watch is a smart and reliable wristwatch to add to any growing collection, offering an autonomy of 50 hours for a power reserve for those occasions where you may want to alternate it with another favourite timepiece.
The new Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto black and gold watch
More simplified in its looks is the new Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto black and gold watch. Its thin polished bezel opens up to a minimalist-styled dial in black with golden elements seen in the central hours, minutes and seconds hands, as well as the short stick markers, faceted to attract the light. The tip of the circular-shaped black PVD-coated stainless steel case is sealed with a pane of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. This 50-meter water-resistant watch finished on a black NATO-style strap, is powered by the H-10 movement, which offers an 80-hour power reserve and performs at a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The new Hamilton American Classic Pan Europ black and gold watch
Noted for its cushion-shaped case, the original Hamilton Pan Europ watch released in 1971 was first created in a chronograph version before being reiterated in a non-chronograph version back in 2014. This new 42mm steel model with a black PVD coated finish features brushed and polished finishes and features the black and gold livery that represents this new capsule collection so well. Its knurled black-coated bezel is accompanied by a time and date dial – the latter of which is located at 3 o’clock alongside a day aperture. A golden flange that slopes towards the centre offers the minutes and seconds scale, whilst inside the watch, the H-30 movement lives. The black NATO-style leather strap fitted to this model features gold rivets, adding a refined and opulent finish to this model.
The new Hamilton Ventura Chrono Quartz black and gold watch
Earlier this month, I covered the new black and red Ventura XXXL Bright watch, which you can read about here. But this new black and gold Ventura Quartz watch from Hamilton is in keeping with the new gold and black livery of the collection and features the distinct shield-shaped case adorned with a black PVD coating and three striking snarled golden counters on the dial. The small seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters in this new Ventura Chrono watch are accompanied by a double hour marker at 12 o’clock, whilst faceted sword-shaped central hands and fine needle-thin hour markers add an incredible level of detail to the watch’s black and gold dial. This 32mm quartz-powered Hamilton watch comes fitted on a stylish and versatile black leather strap with a matching black coated folding buckle.
The new Hamilton Ventura S Quartz black and gold watch
Smaller still is the new Hamilton Ventura S Quartz black and gold watch, which measures a diameter of 27mm. The chronograph features 12 polished gold circular hour markers, a set of sword-shaped hands and elongated fine hour markers to accompany these locations. The recognisable electric pulse pattern can be admired traversing the line from 8 o’clock through to 3 o’clock as seen in the recent Ventura XXL Bright watch, this time in gold instead of red, however. The 50-meter water-resistant Hamilton Ventura watch is powered by a quartz movement and comes fitted on a black leather strap.
