Garmin Announce Launch of new Instinct Solar, Fenix 6 Solar and Tactix Solar

Garmin are lighting up the world as they bring their solar powered technology into some of their most iconic collections including a brand new range of Garmin Instinct Solar, Garmin Fenix 6 Solar and Garmin Tactix Solar watches.

We saw Garmin’s first ever solar powered watch unveiled last summer with the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar and wearable wearers everywhere were overjoyed with the prospect of an even better battery life. We are now incredibly excited to announce that the innovative Power Glass solar charging lens will be featured on a stunning new selection of timepieces.

The Garmin Power Glass works by using a very thin 1mm wide strip just on the inside of the bezel and another under the display face to absorb energy from the sun and turn it into battery life. The default dial on each of the new watches will also feature a sun icon with a total of 10 ‘rays’ to demonstrate the intensity level of the sun. When no rays are shown you are probably sat in the shade, but when you step out into the sunshine the dial will show you a ray for every 10% of intensity.

Garmin Instinct Solar Smartwatches

Still built to U.S military standard 810G for thermal, shock and water resistance to 100 metres, the legendary Garmin Instinct is back but this time with a solar powered lens so you can conquer the elements for longer. Alongside a battery life of up to 54 days in smartwatch mode, these wearables feature GPS, GLONASS and Galileo sensors, built-in sports apps and smart notifications all on your wrist.

There are five standard Garmin Instinct Solar smartwatches available in Graphite, Tidal Blue, Orchid, Sunburst and Flame Red alongside three special edition duos that celebrate differing environments. The first is the Instinct Solar Tactical Edition available in Moss or Black for a subdued aesthetic perfect for stealthy exploration. Garmin Fenix 6 Solar Smartwatches

We have already seen the solar charging Power Glass in the Garmin Fenix range before, but it was only available on the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar model. Now we are treated to the technology within the mid-range Garmin Fenix 6 and the smaller Garmin Fenix 6S so all wrist sizes can stay performance-ready for weeks. As standard, the Garmin Fenix 6S, 6 and 6X watches feature wrist based heart rate monitors, Pulse Ox sensors, the new Pace Pro feature, TOPO maps and music storage right on the wrist, alongside an improved battery life with each model differing in its improvements.

The Garmin Fenix 6S Solar gains an additional 1.5 days of battery life on top of the standard 9 days in smartwatch mode and up to 59 days with solar in Battery Saver mode. There are currently just two models available in the range: a stunning Light Gold case with Light Sand band and an Amethyst Steel variant with Shale Gray band. The mid-range Garmin Fenix 6 Solar gains an additional 2 days with solar on top of the 14 days battery life in smartwatch mode and a total of 80 days with solar in Battery Saver mode. There are four models to choose from for the Fenix 6 Solar: Slate Gray with Black Band, Black with Slate Gray Band, Mineral Blue Titanium with Whitestone Band and Titanium Carbon Gray DLC with Titanium DLC Band.

Garmin Tactix Delta Solar Smartwatch

Designed for use in even the most demanding environments, the Garmin Tactix Delta smartwatch comes to life with a new solar-charging lens so you can go as long as you need out in the field.
