Bremont ALT1-P2 Jet Watch Review
Thursday - 26 March 2020
Following in the footsteps of the extraordinary Bremont U2 JET, originally released for actor Tom Hardy to wear in the 2018 blockbuster film Venom, the new Bremont ALT1-P2 JET is this time inspired by real-life superheroes. Still slated to be on the wrist of Eddie Brock in Venom 2 later this year, the new Bremont ALT1-P2 JET watch has been designed for and tested by Gravity Industries, the designer of the incredible Gravity Jet Suit.
Richard Browning, British inventor and founder of Gravity Industries, is dubbed “the real-life Iron Man”. In 2017, he unveiled the ingenious Gravity Jet Suit which utilises several kerosene-powered miniature jet engines to achieve vertical flight. The jet engines are fitted onto the arms and feet of the suit giving you control to steer using your limbs. As always, Bremont took the opportunity to celebrate such a unique form of British engineering and asked for the new Bremont ALT1-P2 JET to be strapped onto the wingsuit during a world-record event which saw them fly at speeds of up to 85 miles per hour.
“The ALT1-P2 Jet is the perfect timepiece for us to be testing in this next frontier in human flight.” - Richard Browning, Gravity Industries Founder
As well as being designed for the adrenaline rush of jet-pack aviators, the Bremont ALT1-P2 JET watch also keeps in mind the requirements of professional pilots with accuracy and clarity at its forefront. The smooth black metal dial is decorated with large Arabic numerals and propeller shaped hour and minutes hands coated in ’51 lume’ which gives the dial a subtle vintage finish. For optimal legibility, the dial is protected by domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating.
The 43mm case is the first within the ALT1-P collection to be engineered from scratch resistant DLC treated stainless steel. The case is still constructed using the brand’s legendary 3-piece Trip Trick case design which promises durability and sophistication alongside the DLC treated case barrel. Housed within is the COSC chronometer-rated BE-53AE automatic movement which provides central hands for hours, minutes and chronograph seconds, date at 4.30H, chronograph small counters for 30 minutes and 12 hours and continuous seconds at 9H.
The movement continues to impress with a power reserve of 42 hours, 27 jewels and a frequency of 28,800bph. Turning the Bremont ALT1-P2 JET watch over provides you with a remarkable view of the automatic winding calibre. It can be seen through a sapphire display back finished with a smoked black effect to complete the stealthy all-black look. The timepiece is completed by a choice of two straps: a black calfskin leather strap with a black DLC pin buckle or an extraordinary black PVD bracelet and matching folding buckle.
Giving us all something to look forward to, the Bremont ALT1-P2 JET watch is expected to be released very soon in April. You can pre-order your own on the Jura Watches website here with free delivery and interest free finance options available.
