Breitling Reveals new Six Nations 2025 Watches

The new Breitling Six Nations watches for 2025 continue with the faithful Chronomat design, each representing their respective countries' colours.

In 2022, Breitling announced it was venturing into a three-year partnership with Six Nations Rugby. This meant that Breitling would be the official timing partner for the Guinness Six Nations, the Autumn Nation Series, the Rugby World Cup, and the Women’s Six Nations for the first time ever. That partnership proved to be an exhilarating voyage of edge-of-your-seat matches and record-breaking moments and is still going strong today. Each year, the watchmaker releases a slew of exquisite timepieces in the form of the iconic Chronomat, dressed in hues representing each nation’s flag.  But beyond this, the Breitling and Six Nations partnership stands for much more. Both are joined by an attitude of sheer grit and determination, an obsession with precision, and a strong spirit of persistence. Plus, they both share a heritage: Breitling of whom was founded back in 1884 and Six Nations,  the year after in 1883. And what better way to unite precision timekeeping with sporting excellence than with a watch that embodies the ideals of the modern-day sports watch? The Breitling Chronomat.

The Chronomat – Professional, Reliable and Performance-Focussed

The Chronomat watch, to so many people’s surprise, was designed for the Frecce Tricolori Jet team, who, back in 1979, needed a chronograph for its pilots. It needed to be ready to serve as suit duty but practical enough to jump into action when utilised in the cockpit. At the time, no analogue watch was available in quartz, so it had to be mechanical. Above all, however, it needed to be both legible and comfortable on the wrist. Tough, too, because when opening the aircraft’s canopy after landing, many pilots knocked their watch, causing the crystal to crack. Breitling has the answer with the design of the Chronomat. It featured a recessed crystal, four rider tabs to aid grip and a legible dial. Over the years, however, the Chronomat underwent some modifications and, by the 1980s, took the form of a watch that resembles the Chronomat we recognise today.

Today, the Chronomat watch’s smooth and streamlined case is crisp and professional-looking, and the case connects to the iconic Rouleaux bracelet, which the Swiss watchmaker explicitly developed for the range. In 2009, it was fitted with an in-house calibre, while in 2020, the brand relaunched the innovative Rouleau strap, which is also available as a rubber band.

The new Breitling Chronomat GMT 40 Six Nations Limited Edition Watches

Following along the same lines as previous Six Nations Chronomat watches, these new models each showcase a dial representative of the different nations’ flags: silver for England, green for Ireland, blue for Scotland and burgundy red for Wales. Moreover, these models are compact companions, measuring a very practical 40mm diameter, and feature a GMT complication that is perfectly primed for travel.

Contrasting colours are the choice for each of these designs. In the England version, limited to 250 pieces, red is used as a splash of sporty vibrance, while in the Scotland iteration, Breitling experts use an attractive purple travel hand. Each model also features a date window at 6 o’clock, while Super-LumiNova material brings the baton hour markers and central hands to life in the dark.

Construction-wise, the cases of the new Breitling Chronomat Six Nations watches are crafted from robust stainless steel and integrated with 200-meter water resistance, making them ideal for water sports and swimming. A tough sapphire glass front helps to uphold this water-resistant rating, as does a signed and screwed-down crown at 3 o’clock. Inside this tough case is the Breitling Calibre 32 – a modified movement with COSC certification, a power reserve of 42 hours and an additional 24-hour hand.
