Breitling releases 32mm and 36mm Navitimer watches

Today two new sizes have joined the Navitimer watch collection – a 32mm and a 36mm. The new Breitling Navitimer watches for women have been released alongside the brand’s NAVITIMER – FOR THE JOURNEY campaign, which stars award-winning actor, Charlize Theron. Before we get into the features of the new 32 and 36mm sizes, here’s a little insight into why the Navitimer watch has come to be one of the most popular collectables released by the Swiss watchmaker.

About the Navitimer

The first Navitimer watch was released by Breitling back in 1952, combining the words “Navigation” and “Timer” into one name. The chronograph is most notable for its slide rule bezel, which assists the wearer with mathematical calculations like an on-board computer would do. More advanced and refined than a standard chronograph, the Navitimer is considered a great tool for those who are serious about flying aircraft but also those who just love its complex and sophisticated design. It can be used to calculate fuel consumption speed and descent rates. What makes the chronograph version of the Navitimer even more desirable is its in-house developed movement that Breitling has been outfitting the watch with since 2009. That said, the three-handed models like some we are covering today are powered by an ETA movement or quartz-powered movement for uncompromised reliability, some of which offer a more simplified version of the pilot’s watch for times when wanting to pair with elegant attire.

Up to the year 2022, Breitling has offered the Navitimer in sizes of 41mm, 43mm and 46mm but today we see the brand release 32mm and 36mm models that are now more accommodating for the female wrist and available in a choice of dial colours and materials. So, without further ado, feast your eyes on this array of new Navitimer watches for women. Luckily for those ladies or men who have always wanted to own a Navitimer watch, this current design shows all the faithful attributes, proving very small changes since its initial launch. The new Breitling Navitimer 36mm watches

First off, let’s take a look at the larger 36mm model. It comes in three material options; a stainless steel or a bi-colour option crafted from stainless steel and rose gold, plus a “better gold” version. This material, in line with the brand’s mission to do better, is traceable to the small-scale mines from which the gold is mined from. These mines meet the Swiss Better Gold’s Association criteria. The 36mm model keeps its beaded bezel and the iconic circular slide rule. The dial choices for the steel versions comprise a serene mint green, a stunning anthracite, and a silver with slim baton indexes, whilst the steel and rose gold iteration features a captivating mother-of-pearl dial that exudes a more jewellery-like feel thanks to its hour markers represented by round brilliant-cut “better diamonds” that scintillate under the light. These diamonds are not just any diamonds – they are ethically lab-grown and fully traceable to their accredited producer and have been grown under the SCS-007 Sustainability Rated Diamonds Standard.

All four versions of the 36mm model are powered by the Breitling Calibre 17 - a COSC-certified movement based on an ETA that provides a power reserve of 38 hours. The watches also come on a choice between a leather strap (dark green for the mint green option, dark grey for the anthracite model, dark red for the silver and brown for the mother of pearl models) or a stainless steel link bracelet. The metal band option boasts links finished in brushed and polished effects, whilst the bi-colour option features flecks of indulgent red gold running throughout. The 7-link bracelet is secured with a butterfly clasp, whilst the leather bands secure with a classic folding clasp. The metal bracelet for the “better gold” version is a beautiful fully-gold design.

The new Breitling Navitimer 32mm watches

The smaller 32mm Breitling Navitimer watch offers the same screw-down crown but a snapped caseback. In this design, however, the watch foregoes the slide rule function showing just the beaded bezel. It also differs from the larger model with a quartz movement inside its case. Its slim diameter is combined with a powdery pink or blue mother-of-pearl dial and the watch is also more water resistant with a rating of 5 bars compared to the 3 bars of the 36mm option. Two additional mother-of-pearl dials are also offered, one of them in bi-colour steel and red gold, the other in stainless steel – both with beautiful lab-grown diamonds. These come on a respective brown or deep red alligator leather band, leaving a dark blue leather band for the blue mother-of-pearl option and a pale pink leather band for the pink mother-of-pearl display. There’s also a “better gold” mother-of-pearl option. One comes on a brown leather band, the other on a fully gold metal 7-link “better gold” bracelet. The Calibre 77, fitted to the heart of these watches is a precise SuperQuartz movement that promises an accuracy ten times better than a standard quartz movement. The new lady’s and unisex Breitling Navitimer watches have been launched as part of Breitling’s new campaign, which sees award-winning actor Charlize Theron, who has recently joined the Breitling Squad become the face of the new feminine models.
