Breitling Premier Heritage Watch Collection Full Review

Breitling reveals its new Premier Heritage collection – an assortment of 6 striking vintage-inspired timepieces that pay homage to the brand’s Founders Squad – Leon, Gaston and Willy Breitling. The new Premier Heritage watches charm with their unique set of characteristics, forming a sub-category to the already-popular Breitling Premier watch collection. Faithful design elements like period-style syringe hands, Arabic numerals and chronometer-rated movements remain true to the Breitling Premier watch collection, yet these new models doff their hats to Breitling watches from the year 1943 and are split into three separate categories – the Chronograph, the Datora and the Duograph.

The Breitling Premier B09 Chronograph 40

This new sub-category celebrates the brand’s pioneering success in developing and innovating the complex chronograph. Leon Breitling who founded the company in 1884 patented the well-known tachymeter scale that now accompanies the modern-day chronograph. The facility enabled the wearer to measure speed based on distance or distance based on time travelled. It was fitted to the company’s Vitesse Pocket Watch in 1906. After this, his son developed one of the first wrist-worn chronograph watches with an independent pusher located at 2 o’clock. It separated the start, stop, and reset functions from the crown, making the handling of the chronograph both effortless and efficient. Later down the line, his own son, Willy Breitling developed the second independent chronograph pusher at 4 o’clock, as well as establishing the Huit Aviation Department in 1938. Thanks to these achievements, very few brands carry the same credibility for manufacturing chronographs in the same way that Breitling does.

The duo of Breitling Premier watches under the Chronograph category come in dials dressed in pistachio green encased in a stainless steel housing and a stately silver colour in an 18ct rose gold case. Both models are powered by a manually-wound movement – the Calibre B09 which is based on the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01. Both new Chronograph B09 watches feature a bi-compax dial with a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, balanced by a small second sub-counter at 9 o’clock. Both models are 100-meter water-resistant and feature a tachymeter scale around the periphery of the dial. The new Breitling Premier B09 Chronograph watches also measure a compact 40mm case size and come fitted on an alligator leather strap - the pistachio green dial version ref: AB0930D31L1P1 priced at £6,200 on a light golden brown colour and the darker brown leather strap attached to the silver dial and rose gold version ref: RB0930371G1P1 priced at £13,400. Lastly, the Calibre 09 movement that beats within each model is capable of producing an impressive 70-hour power reserve and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The Breitling Premier B15 Duograph 42

The new Breitling Premier B15 Duograph 42 watch is a reinterpretation of the classic split-second rattrapante watch from the 1940s. Thanks to two superimposed hands, the model enables the wearer to measure two elapsed times simultaneously. Two new case materials and dial colours are offered with this new model – a sunburst blue dial wrapped in stainless steel tones and a luxurious 18ct rose gold version with an inky black dial. The Calibre B15 is a sturdy, tried and tested movement based on the architecture of the B01 movement. The pusher integrated into the 3 o’clock crown, enables the chronograph seconds hand to be split and re-joined as opposed to the need for a 10 o’clock pusher. Cushion shaped push-pieces at 2 and 4 o’clock also promote easy handling of the model’s features. The pusher at 2 o’clock activates both the chronograph hands, the crown button stops the second hand and then catches up to the other hand once pushed again.

Both of the new Breitling Premier B15 Duograph 42 watches are equipped with 100-meter water resistance, a sapphire crystal glass caseback and a 30-minute chronograph counter, balanced by a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock. The stainless steel and sunburst blue dial iteration (ref: AB1510171C1P1 priced at £7,700) is completed on a brown alligator leather strap while the inky black and 18ct rose gold version (ref: RB1510251B1P1 priced at £15,900) comes on a black alligator leather strap. The Breitling Premier B25 Datora 42

Welcoming back the classic calendar and moonphase complication, the new Breitling Datora has received a makeover in two new dial colours – copper or silver. The former is dressed in a stainless steel case while the silver dial on the latter model contrasts beautifully with a luxurious 18ct rose gold case. Powered by the Breitling Manufacture Calibre B25, the COSC-certified self-winding engine performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 48-hour power reserve whilst sitting inside a 100-meter water-resistant housing. Both 42mm versions feature a sapphire crystal glass front and caseback treated with a layer of anti-reflective technology. With a trio of chronograph counters located at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, the dial of the new Breitling B25 Datora 42 watches look technical and sophisticated.

A moonphase feature is located at the south of the dial, encompassed by a rate ring and the watch also features a tachymeter scale. The copper dial version of the Breitling Premier B25 Datora ref: AB2510201K1P1 is priced at £9,250 and fitted on a dark brown alligator leather strap with a folding clasp, while the silver dial and 18ct rose gold version ref: RB2510371G1P1 is priced at £17,950 and completed on the same dark brown leather strap. More details can be explored on the new Breitling Premier B25 Datora article we recently covered here.
