A Preview of the Garmin MARQ 2 Adventurer

Garmin has released the new MARQ 2 series of smartwatches, equipped with a lightweight grade 5 titanium case, a crisp new AMOLED display, improved battery power and new TopoActive mapping with NextFork™ features to enjoy, all inside the same confident 46mm dimensions.

If you’ve been following Garmin recently. You’ll be aware of how busy this year has been for the smartwatch brand. Back in January, it unveiled the Venu 2 Plus, Fenix 7 and Epix 2. The Instinct 2 and Descent G1 then dropped. Furthermore, the D2 Mach 1 came in March followed by the Tactix 7 in April. Despite a fruitful year, it hasn’t stopped dedicated fans of the Garmin MARQ watch series from longing to see the next generation, queue the new MARQ 2 series, in particular the MARQ 2 Adventurer. The new modern tool watch has been released alongside four other models from the same line, the MARQ 2 Athlete, Aviator, Captain, and Golfer, but in this article, we’re going to look more in-depth at the MARQ 2 Adventurer, equipped with everything it takes to push boundaries, break limits and seize the opportunity for exploration.

To start with, let's look at what all Garmin MARQ watches include. All watches of the MARQ series included the same baseline; a full global database of ski resorts, maps and runs, a full global database of golf courses, and sports apps that include swimming, biking, running, golfing and skiing. In addition to this, they offered; the PulseOx SpO2 measurement, detailed regional maps, music and storage features, Garmin Pay, and the Garmin ELEVATE optical HR sensor. Its 46mm size was topped with a ceramic bezel with a battery life of 12 days in watch mode, 28hrs in GPS mode, or 48hrs in the UltraTrac GPS mode. All watches from the MARQ series also featured a lightweight titanium casing and a hard sapphire crystal glass lens.

The new MARQ 2 watches have improved scratch-resistant cases crafted from grade 5 titanium and feature a new crisp, full-colour AMOLED display with a 390 x 390 pixel resolution. They also come with a new charging port/cable that promises a much faster-charging rate, whilst improved battery power enables you to venture further, wider and longer with the Adventurer strapped comfortably to your wrist. This battery power supersedes that of its former models, with a 16-day supply (as well as 21 days in Battery Saver Mode, 75 hours in Max Battery GPS mode, or 14 days in the Expedition GPS mode) compared to its original 12-day battery power. The new MARQ 2 watch also comes with TopoActive mapping with NextFork™ features that help you to navigate trails and see beyond the next turn. This new advanced mapping technology is enhanced by; Around Me, elevation profiles, outdoor points of interest and much more.

In addition to the new Preloaded TopoActive mapping, NextFork™ and ClimbPro features, the new Adventurer MARQ (Gen 2) watch has some other useful advantages. Here's where the new MARQ 2 Adventurer watch differs from the other 4 new releases. Fitted on a brown leather and FKM rubber strap, it offers new built-in navigational features that include multi-band GPS to help you keep your bearings, with a built-in barometric altimeter, an electronic 3-axis compass, a TracBack® routing feature and the ClimbPro app. If you plan to take your adventures higher, you can track your stats by utilising the Pulse Ox1 sensor monitor to show your blood oxygen saturation levels alongside other metrics like your steps, breathing rate and elevation profiles.

Advantages of the new MARQ 2 watches

Alongside the other MARQ 2 smartwatches, the MAR1 2 Adventurer also features multi-band GNSS with integrated SatIQ™ technology that will secure the very best accuracy no matter where you are in the world, whilst simultaneously preserving power usage. Furthermore, you have; Garmin Pay™ contactless payments1, wrist-based heart rate2, daily activity tracking2, sleep monitoring2 and smart notifications³ to enjoy. The newer generation is still compatible with Apple® and Android™ devices too. One other feature that compliments the lifestyle of those that like to explore is Garmin’s new singular Jetlag Advisor software, which has been incorporated into all models of the second MARQ generation. It devises a sleep schedule and an exercise plan that you can adhere to whilst hopping from one country to another to minimise the undesirable effects of jetlag.

The ultra-responsive touchscreen of the new Garmin MARQ II Adventurer watch is paired with easy push buttons that will work in any environment. All the usual Garmin MARQ features are still intact, such as its music storage, Garmin Pay™ contactless payments1, wrist-based heart rate2, daily activity tracking2, sleep monitoring2 and smart notifications³. The newer generation is still compatible with Apple® and Android™ devices too.
