TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Watch Collection Review

TAG Heuer has revealed the 2013 Carrera Calibre 1887 Collection - a new range of timepieces that celebrate 50 years of the brand's iconic Carrera.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera watches are equipped with the in-house manufactured Calibre 1887, an integrated column-wheel movement that vibrates 28,800 times per hour and has a 50-hour power reserve. It includes a re-engineered version of Edouard Heuer's oscillating pinion of 1887, working in tandem with the matching blue column wheel.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Jack Heuer Edition was inspired by the two-part construction Heuer stopwatches once used on pro racing circuits, and takes design influence from the Carrera Mikrogirder. Jack Heuer's coat of arms and signature appear on the smoked sapphire caseback.
The watch has a 45 mm case, with a black titanium carbide steel bezel that has been hand-brushed and polished to a high sheen. The polished push buttons are placed at 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock, and the crown is positioned at 12 o'clock. Additional features include a pulsometre and tachymeter scale on the dark grey flange, a date window at 6 o'clock, and a curved scratch-resistant curved sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment.
