Eterna SuperKonTiki Limited Edition Watch Review

For Baselworld 2015 Eterna launches a new version of the Super KonTiki watch line.

The new release does reflect on the 2010 Super KonTiki 1973 Limited Edition timepiece continuing to include a lot of the similar DNA. The 2015 Limited Edition model adopts a mysterious undertone with the complete jet black shading with vivid orange markers and hands to add a dramatic contrast to the watch face. Triangular and circle shapes alongside large numbers in a scale of ten on the bezel, fine markings and the branding embodies a marginally lighter black shade for wearer’s to distinguish the time easily. For versatility, the Eterna model is available with three different straps in various fabrics - as the luxury brand states: “one watch, three straps.”  A black coated mesh bracelet, a black leather strap and a NATO-style strap with an orange centre stripe completes the trio and are presented neatly in a large presentation box. The differing straps all allow for the timepiece to adopt a modern and sporty feel.

The Eterna Super KonTiki Limited Editon is, in fact, a diver’s watch with a 45mm wide case. Since 1958, Eterna has remained dedicated to included a KonTiki edition within their collections to pay tribute to the daring expedition across the Pacific. The arrival of the Super KonTiki in 1962, complete with a large rotating bezel with a legible 60 minute scale to enable diver’s to enjoy deep salty waters was a classed as a superior timekeeper in this era of watchmaking. Eterna has revived the 1960’s and 1970’s original models to produce a breathtaking Super KonTiki collection for Baselworld 2015. The three editions include a black and silver model with a thick mesh bracelet, a black, silver and orange combination with a striped NATO strap and a dark yellow, black and silver variation with a tan leather strap.
