Bremont Watch Partners with Donington Park Racing
Tuesday - 04 November 2014
Donington Park was the first permanent park circuit in England and is one of the UK's most popular motor racing circuits. It hosts the British Touring Car Championship, World and British Superbikes Championship, the Donington Historic Festival and the Classic Motorcycle Festival among many others. Bremont will now take on the role as timing partner at the circuit for the next eight years.
"This is a very exciting, long term partnership for Bremont and one that further builds on our ties within the automotive world having collaborated with the likes of Jaguar and Norton," said Giles English, Bremont co-founder. "Donington Park is an iconic British venue with international acclaim which has a huge history; Ayrton Senna’s first lap at Donington in 1993 was destined to become the most famous in Grand Prix history when he passed five cars to lead the field and win the race. Bremont is now incredibly proud to be a part of this new chapter at Donington and delighted to be working with Smith of Derby on the project."
Christopher Tate, Managing Director of Donington Park Racing Limited, added: "The entire team at Donington Park is delighted to have Bremont as our new watch partner, and we thank them for their provision of this wonderful new pit lane clock. The design exactly matches Bremont’s fine range of watches, as well as matching the aspirations of the ‘new’ Donington Park, which combines its great history and traditions with also leading the way in new motorsport technology, as home to the FIA Formula E electric race car series, and as the 2015 home of the British Motorcycle Grand Prix, Moto GP."
A double faced Bremont clock measuring 2.5 metres has been installed at Donington Park, based on the design of the Bremont Solo. The clock was designed by Bremont and custom made by local British clockmaker Smith of Derby, who provided their renowned expertise in quartz powered clocks.
Martin Butchers, Technical Sales Engineer at Smith of Derby said: "We are proud once again to be working in collaboration with Bremont Watch Company and Donington Park. The design of the clock incorporates aircraft style fixers around the drum and bezels to reflect Bremont’s aviation DNA, and the support bracket of the clock was designed to emulate the wishbone suspension of formula racing cars, to reflect its location. We are delighted that it will be seen and enjoyed by race goers around the world."
