175 Years of Glashutte Watchmaking – The New Nomos Tangente Rose Gold Neomatik Limited Edition watch

The stunning new Nomos Tangente Rose Gold Neomatik Limited Edition watch is manufactured in a run of just 175 pieces to mark Glashutte’s watchmaking history. This beautiful edition of the Tangente is the first of its kind to boast an 18ct rose gold case. Its elegant white-silver galvanised dial is home to rose gold elements that elevate the Tangente to an all-new deluxe level of timekeeping.

If you don’t already know the Tangente watch, Nomos may be a brand that is new to you. The collection launched in 1991 and was part of the brand’s very first few lines since its founding. The Tangente has christened pretty much every colour going but the brand has only ever manufactured stainless steel and 18ct yellow cases for this range. So, we ask – how can the Tangente stay fresh and exciting? By offering a rose gold option, of course!

I’m pretty sure that when Nomos unveiled the Tangente Rose Gold Neomatik watch in Glashutte during its fourth Nomos Forum around a month ago, it would have taken the breaths away of those attending. No one was really expecting it. It could well be our favourite of all the rand’s releases this year. The fan-favourite, dressed in luxurious rose gold tones is an indulgent treat for the wrist. It celebrates 175 years since watchmaking came to Glashutte. Ever since then, Germany has been holding its own very well on the horological front, with some key brands producing timepieces of an exceptional quality. Nomos has been marking the anniversary and celebrating Germany’s horological capital since 2020 with several striking timepieces, yet this new Tangente watch is undeniably the most unusual and opulent looking yet.

The new rose gold Tangente watch is similar in design to other production models from the same line. It measures a diameter of 35mm and sits at a height of 6.9mm. Rather than the standard models in stainless steel, however, the entire case is crafted from alluring 18ct rose gold. This includes the bezel and the winding crown at 3 o’clock with a simple knurled finish. The fully polished case pairs beautifully with a slim bezel and angled lugs. To protect the watch on the front and back, Nomos uses clear scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. Through the front of the design, you get to admire the gracefully gliding hands and crisp hour markers of the dial, whereas on the back you get a unique chance to catch sight of the movement’s performance.

With a water-resistant rating of 30 meters, it’s clear that this watch is for pairing with dressy or smart casual attire. Its design mimics a reference from the 1990s and features a galvanised white dial adorned with real rose gold hands that match the case superbly. The minute ring around the edge of the dial and the small seconds sub-counter have been filled with a rose gold colour, while the printed Arabic numerals in Bauhaus font around the hour track are represented in a rich burgundy colour. This unusual choice of colours certainly lends itself to an exclusive feel on the wrist. Matching these burgundy hues is the Nomos name at 12 o’clock. Underneath this is the lettering relating to the Neomatik movement, kept in a light rose gold colour.

Engraved along the perimeter of the rose gold caseback are the letters that relate to the model’s limited edition number. There are just 175 examples of this elegant watch circulating – each one bearing its own numerical engraving. Beneath the sapphire crystal exhibition glass at the centre of the caseback is the Nomos DUW 3001 automatic movement. It runs to the beat of 21,600 vibrations per hour and produces a power reserve of 43 hours once fully wound. Measuring a mere thickness of just 3.2mm, it features the brand’s proprietary Swing System, allowing it to be adjusted according to chronometer standards. Its Glashutte-style architecture means it bears a three-quarter plate with a bidirectional winding automatic system.

To finish the look of the elegant Nomos Tangente Rose Gold Neomatik Limited Edition watch, experts have fitted the model on a brown Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather strap, complete with a rose gold buckle.
