Up Close with the Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White Watch

There is a new dial colour added to the Bell & Ross BR05 GMT lineup. It marks the first time the brand has offered white as a dial colour in the entire BR05 range. Crisp and legible, the new BR05 GMT White watch is sure to suffice as a travel-ready companion for any fan of the La Chaux-de-Fonds watch company.

How many times has the steel sports-luxe formula been done? Many. There are few watch categories hotter than this one. It just never tires. The integrated steel bracelet look is a coveted one and we are bound to see more and more of it as time goes on. Yet the new Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White watch has a more unusual edge. Sure, it looks familiar in ways to icons that reigned during the 1970s, but it carries forward the DNA of Bell & Ross’s circle within a square concept. For 2022, the new caller GMT goes polar, and it looks good.

Bucking the trend once again, Bell & Ross keeps the look of its already-popular three-handed integrated bracelet design alive, this new sleek and legible GMT complication expands the BR05 series further and comes equipped with a red arrow-tipped GMT hand that contrasts strikingly against the silvery-white hue of its dial.

First, we’ll talk about the case of the new Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White watch. If you’re already familiar with the architecture of the BR05, you’ll know that its functional and robust design works well as a daily beater, as well as a travel companion. The width of the new GMT White watch measures 41mm – its height – 11.07mm. There’s a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, flanked by a crown guard on each side, as well as a screw-down caseback with a circular cut-out sealed with a piece of sapphire crystal glass. This grants you a nice view of the movement sitting at the heart of the case, but more on that in a second. The case features a sapphire crystal glass front too. Scratch resistant and treated with an anti-reflective material, it also assists the crown and caseback to uphold a 100-meter water resistance.

The dial of the new Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White watch is the talking point of this new release as it’s the first time a white dial has been released in the BR05 range. Its clean and light display sways more towards a contemporary edge than the brand’s former classic blue and black iterations. Aside from the red arrow-tipped GMT hand, which contrasts beautifully with the rest of the display, everything else on the dial keeps in line with the faithful BR05 DNA. Large Arabic numerals sit at 12, 6 and 9 o’; clock, The 3 o’clock location is occupied by a clear date window, set against a matching white background and the rest of the hour markers are presented in white pill-shaped markers. These, along with the Arabic numerals and the central hands, glow richly in the dark thanks to a generous application of Super-LumiNova. The dial features a sloped 24-hour ring that connects the dial with the case.

The power horse working at the heart of the new Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White watch is the BR-Cal 325, which is based on the Sellita SW-330. It performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours once fully wound. It also controls a caller-style 24-hour GMT hand that is independently adjustable. It proves a very handy feature for keeping track of a second time zone whilst on the go. The movement also features a 360-degree oscillating weight that can be admired through the back of the watch’s case.

The new Bell & Ross BR05 GMT White watch can be enjoyed in two options; a black rubber strap with a stainless steel folding clasp, stamped with the Bell & Ross logo, or a stainless steel bracelet. Both are the integrated style, attaching to the model’s unusual shaped lugs, but the stainless steel bracelet is executed in brushed and polished finishes and tapers from the sloped lug side of the case down to the folding clasp.
