Unveiling the Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph Watch

If you want to grab yourself one of the 400 Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph watches, you’ll have to be quick. The limited edition model comes dressed in a delicious colour palette of black and turquoise and encourages you, as the wearer, to harness your creative and artistic side.

In an industry where excellence is often a function of price, Raymond Weil begs to differ. The Genevan watch manufacturer has focussed heavily on creating all the elegant features of an intricately crafted luxury watch, whilst at the same time, offering the consumer a very reasonable price. As a matter of fact, there are some exceptional timepieces from the brand’s Flagship collection that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. What’s more, they compromise on nothing in the way of refinement or sophistication. The new Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph watch, limited to just 400 pieces worldwide, is a perfect example of the brand’s commitment to achievable, affordable luxury.

Its dial creates a beautiful horological vista, with a unique gradient effect. Special attention to detail has gone into the concentric circle pattern that occupies the hour track, enabling the hour markers to stand out with confidence. If that wasn’t enough, the brand showcase its horological signature through the back of the case – a stunning W-shaped oscillating weight as part of the beating heart. Let’s read on for more details on the new Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph watch.

As you will have guessed by the title given to this new limited edition watch from Raymond Weil, the latest Freelancer to join the brand’s popular collection is set on a bi-compax dial layout. This is my preferred choice for a chronograph dial and here’s why. There is a subtle retro charm to appreciate in the counters of a bi-compax chronograph watch. Placed at 3 and 9 o’clock a bi-compax chronograph watch has great balance and beauty. In this design, the counters give way to a dial that is not only simple and uncluttered but easy to read.

New brand ambassadors

The design of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph watch is a celebration of music. The promotional video featured on the manufacturer’s website shows the watch being enjoyed on the wrists of two jazz-pop artists as they play their song to promote the latest Raymond Weil campaign. The special song released for the launch of the men’s chronograph watch marks a collaboration with saxophonist Sandy Sax and emerging pianist Victor Le Douarec who feature in an engaging visual and audio performance where the Freelancer watch, quite clearly, steals the show.

Celebrating the joy of sharing a moment in music together, the new Freelancer watch for men is an ode to the world of live music and captures a sense of band camaraderie. The watch, dressed in tones of turquoise, adds an electrifying pop of colour to the wrist, uniting those with a passion for music with those that appreciate the beauty of timekeeping. Brand CEO for Raymond Weil, Elie Bernheim shares in the success of the release; “This limited edition is an ode to live music. It celebrates the joy of sharing a musical moment together. With hints of vibrant colour on the dial, the design offers an added creative energy within our collection of freelancer chronographs. The full titanium case and bracelet provide lightweight comfortability both on stage and in the audience. I hope this timepiece will inspire you to live your life with passion, creativity and joy.”

“… a burst of creative energy”

The new limited edition Raymond Weil Freelancer watch is exclusive to just 400 pieces worldwide and is a burst of creative energy on the wrist. It features a 43.5mm case crafted from titanium. The material is used vastly throughout the luxury watch industry and is prized for its unique lustre and its lightweight properties. On top of the case is a black ceramic bezel filled with a tachymeter scale for measuring speed based on time. It joins a spec list that features all the hallmarks one would expect of the evergreen Freelancer watch. Some of these features include a sapphire crystal glass top, treated with layers of anti-reflective material to assist with a glare-free glance into the dial and a screw-down crown, fluted and emblazoned with the RW monogram.

The dial of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph watch is ready to seduce with its gradient effect across its surface and a concentric circle section that forms a backdrop against a set of pill-shaped hour markers. Set against the rich black velvety dial is a set of chronograph counters filled in with a vibrant turquoise colour and a matching turquoise pulsometer scale on the flange. The symmetrical layout features a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a small seconds function at 9 o’clock. Balancing the two is a discreet date window located at 6 o’clock. Lastly, nickel-plated barrel-shaped hour and minute hands have been enhanced by a tasteful measure of Super-LumiNova, as have the hour markers.

Powering those hands around the black and turquoise dial of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer limited edition watch is the Calibre RW5030. The automatic movement produces a power reserve of 56 hours and boasts a W-shaped skeletonised oscillating weight through a sapphire crystal glass exhibition caseback. If you’re partial to collecting watches made from titanium, you will appreciate the lightweight 5-row bracelet featured in this new Raymond Weil addition. Its design secures to the underside of the wrist with a double push security clasp engraved with the RW logo.
