The New Redesigned Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Watches for 2024
Wednesday - 03 July 2024
Take a sneak peek at the new redesigned BR 03 92 Diver watches from Bell & Ross. The brand presents the latest releases in two case materials with an upgraded movement, among other design tweaks.
The year 2017 marked something significant for Bell & Ross. No, it wasn’t the year of the brand’s first dive watch, but it was the first year of the dive watch with the brand’s iconic circle within a square case design. Before then, though, the brand had a penchant for crafting robust dive tools. That venture started in 1997 with the release of the Hydromax. It could function underwater pressures up to 11,100 meters thanks to its case filled entirely with oil. But the BR 03 92 watch released a few years back met ISO criteria and proved a great success, balancing out values of boldness and wearability. It managed to play the role of a daring, aggressive luxury sports watch without completely eclipsing the wrist, which is what drew fans to its appealing design in the first place.
Now it’s time for the next chapter in the Bell & Ross BR 03 92 watch story. The brand is releasing several models that embody all the much-loved features and characteristics of the dive watch but with some modifications. And before fans panic, don’t. The integral design features of this popular dive watch remain intact. These new watches still feature the circle-within-a-square profile, the legible, instantly recognisable dial, and are all ISO standard certified. Before we take a look at them, a little bit about the ISO rating and what it means.
ISO-Certified Dive Watches – What Does it Mean?
For those of you looking to venture into the dive watch category for practical purposes, a watch with ISO standards is a great place to start your search. For one, you can be sure that a watch like this can be used for diving and isn’t just hiding underneath a dive watch “inspired” design. For a watch to comply with ISO 6425 standards, it must be able to withstand water pressures equivalent to at least 200 meters. To test a watch beyond its means, it is held underwater for at least 2 hours. It must also feature a rotating bezel. Dive watches from Bell & Ross have a unidirectional rotating bezel, which prevents the risk of the diver accidentally extending his dive time underwater, say, for example, if the bezel is knocked. To work the bezel, you simply align the minute hand with the zero point on the bezel and track your elapsed time underwater.
An ISO-certified watch must also have a clearly legible dial, 5-minute increments, luminous-coated hands and markers, and must adhere to the pressure and heat variations set out by the international standardising body. Passing all these criteria is no mean feat, as you can imagine. It brings home the level of technical capability and expertise required of a manufacturer like Bell & Ross to ensure its watches are fit for purpose as daily tool watches.
The New Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver Watches for 2024
The first thing is first. I mentioned earlier that one of the most appealing features of the 2017 BR 03 92 Diver watch was its bold and aggressive sporty nature that didn’t swallow up the wrist. Those who agree that the watch is the ideal fit will be pleased to hear that the dimensions of the watch remain the same. Bell & Ross experts keep the same 42mm x 42mm dimensions and a 12mm thickness that feels in proportion to the measurements. For the steel options, you’ll now get a choice between a classic black dial, a blue dial or a white one. Then, there are two black ceramic models. These are presented in matte black or pale blue. The steel iterations have coloured ceramic-filled inserts, black for the black and white models, and blue to match the blue dial iteration. The black ceramic versions have a matching black bezel. You also get clear, luminous details on the scales of these bezels, along with a 15-minute sector.
If we take a look at the dial of these new Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver watches, we can see some subtle changes. The applied indices are now larger and the hour and minute hand has been redesigned. The date window nestled between the fourth and fifth hour matches with the rest of the dial and the white dial variant has an attractive pale green Super-LumiNova treatment applied to its features. The crown is another element garnering some attention. It is now black or blue to suit the colour of the bezel insert and is fully guarded to prevent accidental knocks and bumps. These new Bell & Ross BR 03 92 watches all come with a 300-meter water-resistant rating and a strong anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front to protect the dial from damage caused by water, heat, light and scratching.
My favourite model, for me, is the pale blue and black ceramic iteration. Its dial is fully treated with luminous material, enabling it to glow in tandem (but in a contrasting colour) with the hands and hour markers. Similar to the FULL LUM Diver models, this is a standout feature of the new series and one that makes the dive tool all the more functional and practical. Strap-wise, the dark blue steel model is the only one that gets a matching blue rubber band. The rest feature the classic black rubber straps or ultra-resistant black synthetic straps that are quick drying for dipping in and out of the water.
The last detail to add to the design of the new Bell & Ross BR 03 92 Diver watches is the movement. The Calibre BR-CAL.302-1 automatic is the chosen engine for these designs. It offers an improved power reserve of 54 hours and also outfitted the recent BR 03 watch releases of last year. The movement is based on the Sellita SW300-1 movement and comprises 25 jewels, performing at a rate of 28,800 vph.
Without a doubt, these new ISO-certified BR 03 92 Diver watches are now more functional, legible and practical than ever before.
