Thursday - 22 February 2024
Intercepted by flashes of luminous colour, the new Bremont Bamford Aurora Limited Edition watch is a stealthy tool for nighttime exploration thanks to its Aurora Borealis-inspired colours of green and black.
The year 2024 marks the first in 20 years where the sun reaches its peak of an eleven-year cycle. It means that the Northern Lights are at their most visible. It’s the perfect opportunity to go forth and track them down in pursuit of witnessing this spectacular phenomenon for yourself. When you do, you’ll need the new Bremont Bamford Aurora watch by your side.
The new Aurora watch by Bremont marks a sequel to their partnership. Its design is a bold fusion of luminescent details, contemporary architecture, and unwavering tool-like functionality. The collaboration between the British watchmaker and Bamford – a British Watch designer and customisation company - is inspired by the spirit of adventure and discovery. It depicts the vibrant glowing hues cast into the night sky when the Aurora Borealis can be seen in a blanket of green, yellows, purples, pinks and blues. The luminescent limited edition Aurora watch embarks on a new dimension, with a recipe that combines the DNA of both companies in perfect moderation.
Built For Every Challenge
Suited to life’s adventures, the new Bremont Bamford Aurora Limited Edition watch is tough and sporty. It’s able to tackle rugged outdoor pursuits and embark upon new terrain as you, the wearer, go forth to discover new and unchartered territory. Perfect for outdoor pursuits, sports, and for tackling a mix of unexpected weather conditions, the design relies on its tough and unfalteringly robust case to get it through the most challenging of situations.
Lighting The Way
The illuminated design of the new Bremont Bamford Aurora watch is based on the foundations of the brand’s Supermarine GMT model. In a twist to this popular collectable, it boasts a stunning California dial – a design feature seldom seen in modern-day wristwatches. Inspiring you as the wearer to “find your light” the luminous features of the dial and bezel provide a huge part of the wearable experience.
The design of the watch’s case is geared towards those who aren’t afraid to venture into the unknown. Bremont specialists have dedicated hours of research and design towards crafting this capable tool watch. George Bamford’s very own determination to pursue the Northern Lights became the sole inspiration for this new Bremont Bamford Aurora watch. The bold and daring design of the watch captures a strong sense of self-belief and a passion for adventure. Bremont’s CEO Davide Carrato explains further;
“Joining forces with George following the sell-out success of the first collaboration between Bremont and Bamford Watch Dept has been an exciting adventure. I have always been fascinated by the challenge of creating a timepiece that is as compelling in the dark as it is in the light. Working with George I am thrilled that we have achieved a luminous show which mirrors the magic and spectacle of the aurora borealis.”
A Rare Breed
There are just 500 pieces of the Bremont Bamford Aurora watch available. This mission-ready watch has a GMT function that is cocooned inside a protective anti-shock construction. The brand uses the inspiration behind the glowing hues of the breathtaking Aurora Borealis to portray the remarkable luminescent qualities of this tool watch. The ribbons of light that captivate and inspire whilst flashing through the night sky are brought into this exquisite design, making timekeeping a complete cinch at night.
Layered Legibility
The new Bremont Bamford Aurora watch measures a 43mm diameter. The case is made from stainless steel and has been coated with a black DLC finish to give the watch an almost futuristic look. What’s more, the striking luminous elements of the watch are brought forward from the sandwich dial and into the bezel.
The vibrant green Super-LumiNova material does a stellar job of portraying the 24-hour markers against a bi-colour bezel to differentiate between day and nighttime hours. The cut-out numerals are vivid and crisp, ensuring they provide essential tracking of the 24-hour bezel in all situations. Whether you’re exploring caves, taking a night run, or flying from one country to another, the layered construction of the sandwich dial and the Aurora watch’s functional time-tracking bezel are sure to provide the essentials in timekeeping wherever and whenever you wear it.
The Sandwich Dial
Instead of the usual single plate on a dial, the new Bremont Bamford Aurora Limited Edition watch features a layered sandwich dial that comprises a solid luminous disc covered by another disc on top. This black plate features cut-outs of the California dial design – a mix of Roman numerals and horizontal baton markers. The 12 o’clock location is represented by an upside-down triangle and sits above the Bremont name and the Bamford logo.
Aside from the layered dial promising uncompromised legibility, the hands have also been treated with the same Super-LumiNova material. The central hour and minute hands are fully coated with green luminous material and are matte black underneath, while the GMT hand features a triangular tip filled with a gloss green to match the central second hand. Flip the new Aurora watch over and you’ll see a decorated matte black DLC-coated caseback adorned with a special decoration engraved upon its surface.
Bremont Supermarine S502 Qualities
Being a watch from Bremont’s esteemed Supermarine S502 collection, the model carries some distinct features that make it perfect for underwater exploration at night. The fact that a 500-meter water-resistant case has been paired with these exquisite luminous details makes it a particularly capable dive tool. The watch is also equipped with a helium escape valve for releasing pressure and the build-up of this harmful gas inside the case whilst partaking in daring underwater exploration. The sapphire crystal glass front on the top of the watch delivers profound protection across the dial. It prevents the display from becoming damaged by water, heat, moisture light, scratching and dust to mention just a few examples. The new Aurora watch from Bremont is fitted on a black nubuck leather strap and secures to the wrist with a black DLC-coated stainless steel pin buckle to match the case design.
Lastly, inside this new Aurora Borealis-inspired Supermarine S502 watch is a modified self-winding engine. The calibre BE-93-2AV features a Nivaflex mainspring, an Anachron balance spring, and a Glucydor balance wheel. It performs behind the black DLC-coated caseback at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of 50 hours of power reserve.
