TAG Heuer Reveals Aquaracer Professional 200 Gold Watches

TAG Heuer extends its efforts in equipping its popular Aquaracer Professional line with a reliable movement developed in conjunction with AMT with the release of two 18ct gold Aquaracer Professional 200 watches. The unveiling of these sporty dive watches also marks the first full-gold designs of the entire series, giving them an undeniably regal look.
It’s the first time that TAG Heuer has released a gold version of its popular and indisputably robust Aquaracer Professional 200 watch. This sporty, functional and action-ready line of wristwatches is one of the Swiss brand’s most covetable timepieces and is known for its wide range of automatic time and date models, as well as its chronograph complications and GMT models. The wristwatches from this line are equipped with features like a unidirectional rotating bezel, a strong sapphire crystal glass front, a double folding safety clasp on the bracelet and luminous plots on its dial for legibility. All these useful features combine to create a robust adventure watch for all outdoor challenges. Up until recently, the Aquaracer Professional series hadn’t received an independent movement. Last year, TAG Heuer equipped one of its Aquaracer watches with one and unsurprisingly it was a huge success. The Aquaracer Professional 1000 watch had been eagerly anticipated by fans. This year, the brand’s efforts expand further with the release of two 40mm Aquaracer Professional 200 watches, now powered by the Calibre TH31-00, developed in conjunction with AMT and encased in an 18ct gold housing.

The two new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 gold watches have a high-end twist that will be welcomed by anyone looking for a wristwatch that adopts the key features of a dive tool but with more finesse and indulgence. The solid 18ct gold watches have an extended five-year warranty courtesy of the TH31-00 movement that TAG Heuer has merged forces with AMT to create. ATM is a high-end Swiss movement manufacturer that is still relatively new to the scene. As a result, the automatic movement promises an 80-hour power reserve and is COSC-certified running at an accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day.

It makes sense that TAG Heuer didn’t want to quietly introduce its new movement. To do it in the form of two eye-catching golden models is to do it properly and to do it memorably. The 40mm models are offered in 18ct yellow gold or 18ct rose gold and boast a blue or black dial respectively. They both feature the instantly recognisable dodecagonal-shaped bezel with an engraved 60-minute scale and a unidirectionally rotating design that eradicates the risk of accidentally extending dive time for those wishing to take this watch underwater. The models are both water-resistant to 200 meters and have been topped with a strong pane of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. The back of both watches have been crafted from black DLC-coated grade 2 titanium and are equipped with a sapphire exhibition feature that allows you to admire the performance of the TH31-00 movement as it performs.
The yellow gold and rose gold case and bezels of these watches do a great job of framing the respective blue and black fume dials that lighten towards the centre of the display, echoing the sky as the light fades towards the end of the day. As the shades darken towards the edges of the dial, an hour track can be read clearly via a set of trapezoid hour markers treated with a generous layer of Super-LumiNova. The central hour and minute hands have also been treated with this same luminous material. A discreet date window resides at 6 o’clock, mirroring the same design seen in previous Aquaracer Professional 200 watches, along with the display’s horizontally-patterned dial finish.
The screw-down crown at 3 o’clock on the side of the cases of both of these Aquaracer Professional 200 gold watches is executed in a black DLC-coated titanium and has been adorned with the TAG Heuer logo. Each model is fitted on a robust rubber band – blue for the blue dial reference WBP5152.FT6210 and black for the black version reference WBP5150.FT6199.
