TAG Heuer Launches Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm Watch
Tuesday - 09 November 2021
As part of the new line of Carrera Three Hands watches, TAG Heuer releases this stunning blue and steel Twin-Time Date 41mm watch, tailored for travel and leisure.
Over the last few years, TAG Heuer watches have really made a shift towards a more upmarket, sharper and refined look. That’s not to say TAG Heuer watches weren’t any of those things before. But the Carrera family has had a definite and obvious makeover. Thirteen new models extend the Carrera line further with an assured understated and elegant aesthetic. The collection is already a cornucopia of choice, from case sizes to functions to dial colours. But now the Carrera collection is festooned with a new legible day-date model measuring a 41mm diameter, a 39mm time and date variation and a lady’s 29mm time and date version – all of which come on different dial and strap options. But today we’re showing you the new TAG Heuer Twin-Time Date 41mm watch.
There have been some changes to TAG Heuer over the last few years. The brand’s La Chaux-de-Fonds-based manufacturing facilities has been very busy as of late. Guy Bove also joined the family a few years ago, becoming the creative director for TAG Heuer, and believe me when I say that attention-to-detail is certainly his speciality. Just last year, TAG Heuer gave the Carrera Chronograph an elaborate update in time for its 160th anniversary whilst retaining the watch’s basic DNA that spans back to the dashboard clocks Heuer was producing for racing cars back in the 1930s. But the Swiss watchmaker’s links with motorsport will always be integral to its success as a whole. You can’t really discuss TAG Heuer’s legacy without acknowledging its role in the motorsport industry, and so it feels only right that the manufacturer should continue to reinvent one of its most famous designs without straying too far away from what works best.
Although the same case size as the TAG Heuer Carrera Day Date 41mm watches, the Twin-Time Date 41mm watch is powered by a different movement. Whilst the black, blue and silver models of the Day Date variation are powered by the Calibre 5, the Twin-Time Date variation is powered by the Calibre 7. This is a Swiss-made automatic movement based on the ETA 2892-A2, which provides a 50-hour power reserve beats at a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour and comprises 25 rubies, as well as including a rapid date correction feature. It is, however, the habillage of the TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm that makes its design so special (that’s all parts except the movement). The differences can be seen in the profile of the hands and indexes, as well as the complex yet subtle interaction between the fine-brushed effects and polished techniques used on the surface of the case. The watch comes as part of thirteen new Carrera Three Hands watches and echoes the stylistic codes of the TAG Heuer Carrera watch released last year. As TAG Heuer’s CEO, Frédéric Arnault explains in more detail:
“Since its first introduction more than two decades ago, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands has become a centrepiece of our offering, and we are delighted to introduce a new line that ties the watch firmly to its illustrious roots, while projecting bold modernity and refinement. With 4 variations and 13 new timepieces, our clients and collectors will undoubtedly find the TAG Heuer Carrera that uniquely matches their lifestyle while enjoying its signature understated design and unrivalled legibility, features which have made it the lasting success it is.”

The Twin-Time Date 41mm version of this new TAG Heuer line comes fitted on the brand’s instantly recognisable H-shaped bracelet crafted from stainless steel. The links are a mix of fine-brushed and polished finishes. Redesigned to meet today’s quality standards and improve comfort for the wearer, the H-shaped bracelet from TAG Heuer is ergonomically formed to shape to the wearer’s wrist. Its design can offer a thinner and lighter feel against the skin, whilst also boasting slightly shorter lugs for better comfort on the wrist. The H-shaped TAG Heuer bracelet has become a statement piece to add to growing collections over the last few years and even features on some of the retro-inspired Monaco watches produced by the famous Swiss watchmaker. Of course, the steel folding clasp that secures this steel bracelet to the wrist has a double push-button mechanism and has been engraved with the iconic TAG Heuer logo.
Although the original Carrera watches were chronographs, when the brand went on to extend the line with three-handed models and non-chronograph timepieces, they were met with resounding success. Jack Heuer made sure that one of the key features of the Carrera watch produced back in 1963 was legibility. Therefore, the dials of the new Carrera Three Hands range for 2021 still boast a remarkably simple, balanced and harmonious layout. The new TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41mm watch presents the time on a rich sunray brushed dial with a silver and blue flange that marks out a 24-hour scale around the periphery of the display. This feature works in coordination with a second time zone hand highlighted with a red-coloured arrow tip. The hand combines with the standard hour, minute and second hands – the former two of which have been coated with Super-LumiNova treatment. These hands have been rhodium-coated, as have the luminous-treated indexes around the hour track. The TAG Heuer logo has been applied to the top of the dial and resides at 12 o’clock, balanced by a legible white date aperture at 6 o’clock.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date watch is a compact 41mm companion designed for use whilst travelling on business but also for wearing as a reliable daily beater. The Calibre 7 mentioned earlier has also been equipped with a beautiful rose gold-coloured oscillating mass with Cotes de Geneve decoration applied to the movement, along with a TAG Heuer engraving upon its surface. The movement can be admired in working motion through the surface of a sapphire crystal glass exhibition feature on the back of the watch’s 100-meter water-resistant case. The model also features a crown at 3 o’clock, fine-brushed and polished effects across its steel surface, and a bevelled and domed sapphire crystal glass front for protecting the surface of the dial from denting, scratching and any undesirable glare whilst on the go.
